I’ve always loved Orion and wanted it to be my daily driver, but it wasn’t quite there—until now. Just three months ago, using Orion felt like an entirely different experience. The improvement since then is night and day; nearly every issue has been resolved, and the enhancements are impressive.

  1. Performance with Many Tabs: Orion used to slow down with over 30 tabs open, but this is completely fixed. I now have 114 tabs open, plus 50+ in other windows, and it’s as smooth as ever. I’m also using three extensions—Momentum, Keeper, and Dark Reader—without any issues.
  2. Extension Compatibility: Extensions were hit or miss, especially with certain web apps. Now, I have no problems with extension functionality or stability. I mostly use Firefox extensions, and they all work perfectly.
  3. Web App Compatibility: Some web apps didn’t work before, but now everything runs smoothly. I’ve been using Orion as my daily driver for the past week and a half with multiple heavy web apps, and there are no more hangs, stutters, or errors.
  4. Window Switcher in Vertical Tab Mode: This feature had issues but now works flawlessly, regardless of the workload.
  5. Minor Issues: Every other minor annoyance I faced has been effectively fixed.

A big thanks to Vlad and the team! I’m thrilled to use Orion full-time on my MacBook Pro M3 Pro with 18GB of RAM. The only feature I’d love to see is a side-by-side multi-window view, which is something I find particularly useful in Arc.

Great job, Orion team! Thank you for all your hard work.

I expected Orion to improve in overall usability and reliability, and it sure did.

AutoDealer I agree however #832 exists on Mojave and it needs to resolved before the first stable release, otherwise typing would be a somewhat awkward experience for Mojave users.

orionuser6651 Are you still experiencing that bug? I was not able to reproduce on my Mojave system.

However, if we're voting for Mojave bugs to be fixed before "release", my list is:

One feature I'd also like to see for Mojave/Catalina is:

        bzgnyc

Are you still experiencing that bug?

Yes. It makes copying sentences with periods or any short characters in them inconsistent to use when pasting, Also copying Terminal commands never usually copys the whole thing unless pressing cmd+A but that doesn't work every time.

Okay I can duplicate still with the latest version. I now remember experiencing something like this a while ago but thought it was specific to that website or something. My Catalina system has been my "text terminal" while my Mojave system has been my "server" lately for idiosyncratic reasons. However, just tried using my Mojave system to respond to a message on this site and still running into all the problems seen in your video [Orion 0.99.128.2.1-rc (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2) Build date Aug 4 2024].

I don't recall which version of Orion this started with but agree the current version on Mojave would be unusable as my primary browser. Just composing this reply was painful...
