Orion is great, I love it, favorite browser, but I'm going to have to uninstall it. The reason is I have chronic attention problems to a very severe degree, so I rely on apps and features to block and control websites. Pat of why Orion is great is it works well with my workflow and I can still use a plethora of block and control apps. The issue is Preview, which a great feature that I really love, but is completely toxic for somebody like me.
Preview does not use extensions, which I get since it's a mini browser, but because of that it means YouTube, social media, adult sites, and anything else that can eat up hours of time is available. My buddy sends me a video link in messages. Usually I take the link and upload it to another source so I can watch without getting distracted, but with preview I get a full browsing window, so suddenly it goes from day time to 3 AM and all I've done is watch YouTube.
Sure I'm on Mac so I could permanently ban an IP address, but I do a lot of work on this computer and YouTube is necessary for watching topic videos on important concepts. I have an entire folder just for educational and informative videos that I've loaded onto other websites. I also can't just spend hours completely scorching the earth of every dress for other problematic sites.
As it stands I can just go to google, type in "Google" then click "Open in preview window" in the results and boom, suddenly I've got a full browser window with google and no restrictions in place. So until an option to either disable preview or options to choose to allow certain extensions is in place, I may have to just go back to Edge and Safari.
If this does get worked out though I'll come right back, because everything else about Orion is great.
I think it would be nice if we could just toggle preview off entirely in and out of browser. Or maybe allow a little mini menu that pulls down in preview. You can still keep it minimalist and simple, just streamline the interface for a more condensed experience. Allow the option to select apps that will work with your preview window, just like the option to let them work in private windows.
