Vlad Regarding the "horizontal tab problem", which I agree is difficult to solve because the horizontal tab bar lacks space perhaps it can be considered that in a horizontal tab the concept of trees of tabs disappears and presents a flattened tab view (as if "Show nested tabs" was disabled).

Not really sure I like this approach because it may confuse new users, but I would like to know what others think.

In Chromium broswers a group of tabs can be named. Like "Keyboard" in this example:

It would be helpful to be able to do the same for tab trees in vertical mode in Orion.

So in this scenario, the parent would be the name of the tab tree, and the rest of the tabs would fall under it.

Looks pretty good. How does it indicate what tab is active within a group after selecting a tab inside of a group? does it just replace a potential folder icon and name with that specific tab name and favicon? and keep the arrow on the tab?

After looking a bit at it again, its a bit unclear to me if it ever appears as just a folder? or it will always show last selected tab in that folder?

Vlad I would like to say that this implementation looks perfect to me and is better than anything I could come up with. It works with both horizontal and vertical tabs, and I was not confused when following the mockup. 👍

Along with nested vertical tabs, I'd like to suggest folders or groups for vertical tabs.

The ability to drag and re-organize vertical tabs is very helpful. However, I find it doesn't necessarily always make sense to organize tabs under other tabs.

What I would like is to be able to name a tab group, e.g. "Social Media", and then drag and drop relevant tabs under this heading.

This is very similar to the extant functionlity of being able to drag and drop tabs into nested hierarchies, but adds the ability to add a name that is not a tab itself.

These could be implemented as folders that could themselves be nested. I.e., within "Social Media" you could have tabs as well as another folder.

Vlad This is amazing, when will it be released? Does it come with the ability to also rename tabs? otherwise I will submit a feature request to be able to right click tabs to rename them

                  Hey all --
just chiming in to add another voice to the cause.

Would absolutely love to see the ability to add folders to the vertical tab sidebar for help organizing. It's one of the features preventing me from using Orion full time. In the mean time I'm using Firefox w/ a customized Sidebery extension.

Thank you all for your hard work.

                  Looking forward to it.

Wait what happened to this!? There's an AMAZING UX exploration above in the thread from like... over a year ago... and it looks PERFECT and I want it today! How can we get this!? Do you need beta testers??? Holy cow was I thrilled to see those screenshots. Please add this ASAP!? 🙏 ✨

Yeah I am waiting for this to be released because it would be a true game changer

                      18 days later

Arc's new "live folders" that automatically open GitHub Pull Requests in a folder is a game-changer too. Would love some exploration into features like this at some point. First automatically moving tabs to a folder based on some rules and then maybe opening them proactively (ie. GitHub Pull Requests, JIRA tickets, et cetera).

There is another post from Dec 2021 asking for this feature. They included this screenshot:
. I think this is great when the tab bar is is dragged to the left as far as possible!

However, I would also love the option to label these dividers such that, beyond just a visual degree of separation, when the sidebar is opened the label becomes visible. I've spent a little bti of time editing a screenshot of Orion to show what I mean:

I'm not anything more than a beginner programmer, so forgive me if the language is incorrect:

                        • I imagine that an intuitive way for users to create tab groups would be to right click in the side bar (or set a shortcut to accomplish the same thing), and create a new divider.

                        • The divider could just be initialized with "Tab Divider" as the title, but upon creation of any tab divider the user would be able to rename the tab divider title to whatever they want. Furthermore, double clicking on the tab divider title would also allow users to rename the tab divider.

                        • Users could drag individual tabs under respective tab dividers, and perhaps users could select multiple tabs using shift or cmd, but I understand if implementing this change would cause other issues.

                        • Another feature that could be very useful would be collapsing dividers. Dividers might have a chevron next to them that, upon clicking, would toggle collapsing. I personally do not need that, but other people may like it.

I believe Arc has this feature, but I find Arc to be a pretty crappy browser in every other aspect. I do not have it installed currently and do not wish to install it which is why I cannot provide a screenshot of this.

@eirk Just saw the tab folders post, it definitely is a duplicate. Sorry about that, it hadn't come up when I initially searched before writing this post!

<Use a descriptive title! This is what most users will see before upvoting your suggestion. Then, describe your suggestion in detail, including how should it be implemented in Orion and what your expectation is. If relevant, upload screenshots/videos examples for the feature from other browsers.>

This is one feature that I will consider move to Orion

The idea is from Arc browser, that you can save a tab into a named folder or subfolders. You can close the tab, however the tab in the folder will still remain just as bookmark. This is a great way to organise common used links without locating the bookmarks

Space is also a concept in Arc. You could use space to cross cut the collections of links that you will use and immerse yourself in it.

stephencoz It is not clear what the suggestion is. Starting from current Orion functionality, what would you change in the interface to accomodate the desired feature? PLease be descriptive and do not assume we are familiar with how other browsers do it.
