Have a setting to automatically update the adblock blocklist every X hours/days/weeks/etc. Currently, it doesn't update unless you manually open the settings and click update. This would simplify and improve the user experience by automatically keeping adblocking lists up to date, which would improve the quality of content blocking of Orion. It would simplify workflows by automating a user task.
Users wouldn't really need to "use" it after they enable an auto-update setting. The blocklist would simply update automatically after a set period of time. This could be added easily into the settings menu by changing the existing "update" button into a dropdown menu with time periods.
Casting vote for this. Occasionally encountering broken page / ads leaking through, only realizing that block list hasn't updated in ages.
Would as well love to see this implemented.
Because the Contents blocker update is manual, it is not in the latest state unless the filter is updated intentionally.
Therefore, I want the filter to be automatically updated when you start the Orion browser. In addition, I would like you to notify me that it has been updated.
The support for automatic updates allows users to update the filter list without manually adjusting the settings, improving efficiency.
Since different filter lists are maintained and updated at different intervals—some are updated frequently, even daily, while others may not be updated for a week—the filters used by each user may also differ.
Therefore, users should be able to set their own update frequency. I suggest offering options like 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, and weekly.
This feature was seen in the AdGuard extension, and having the ability to set an automatic update frequency for filters would be very useful.
I'm using the Orion browser on iOS for the first time with Kagi subscription enabled, and when I viewed the Washington Post website, the ads were not blocked. By contrast, Safari with Adblock Plus blocked the same ads. I dug around in the Settings and discovered Manage Content Blocker, and that its list was last updated in December. I did an update, reloaded, and the ads were blocked. So I'm wondering if it's possible to make a fresh download & install of the app also check for updates at the same time. I'm not sure whether this is a bug or a feature request, but I'm going to call it a bug since it deviates from advertised behavior of blocking first party ads by default (vs. user intervention required).
The Orion browser should have an up-to-date Manage Content Blocker block list when first installed. Maybe there should be prompts to update the block list or some automatic process.
