Switching between RC profile windows via macOS dock requires two clicks

steps:

1. open two profiles in two spaces. i have the grey in space 1, green in space 2.
2. in space 2, click on grey profile
3. observe no space switching.

the expected behavior is for the space to switch to space 1.

See also #7424, which is likely related – and which points to a possible association with the “Open external links in Previews” feature.

1. Ensure that System Preferences → Desktop & Dock → When switching to an application, swith to a space with open windows for the application is checked
2. Ensure that Preferences → Tabs → Open external links in Previews is checked
3. Have an open Orion window
4. Switch to a different Space having no open Orion windows
5. Using Cmd-Tab, swith to the Orion app

Result: Orion is now in the foreground. The Space is not switched, so while Orion's manu bar is present, its window is not visible.

Expected: It should switch Spaces and show the Orion wiindow.

Workaround: Uncheck Ensure that Preferences → Tabs → Open external links in Previews

Alternative workaround: After switching, switch to Orion again, holding down the Cmd key while typing Tab, Left arrow.

Thanks to Dinesh on Discord for (scarily fast and correct) help with diagnosing it.

Also, Andrew oon Discord pointed out that #7278 might have the same root cause. (I saw that just as I was about to hit submit.)

I am using multiple "desktops" and have certain apps open or pinned on different desktops.

I set up these desktops by Ctrl-UpArrow and clicking the "+" button there.

OrionRC is open on Desktop2.

If I am using OrionRC I can use Cmd-tab to switch to a different app, Finder, perhaps. When I do so, I am moved to the desptop where finder is running.

However, if I use Cmd-tab to try to switch back to OrionRC, it doesn't work unless I'm switching from an app in the same desktop as OrionRC.

I expect that selecting OrionRC in the Cmd-tab menu will switch me back to the desktop where OrionRC is running and have Orion in the foreground.

It does work if I'm switching from another app in the same desktop as OrionRC.

It doesn't work if I am on Desktop1 and Cmd-tab back to OrionRC on Desktop2. Instead I stay on the current Desktop1 and the top-level menu bar changes to OrionRC, but no window is shown.

If I manually change back to Desktop2, I can see the active OrionRC as expected.

I'm pretty sure that this wasn't an issue with Orion, and I only noticed it since changing to OrionRC.

I don't have any issues switching back and forth between any other applications, even across different desktops. The only issue I see is switching back to OrionRC from another desktop.
