  • Abnormally long buffering before video playback [RC] [Mojave]

To reproduce:
Play any video on Youtube, Twitch or Twitter and see if it loads for a long time before playback.

Allow all auto autoplay is enabled.
If Stop Media with Sound is selected, clicking on the play icon doesn't do anything.
Sometimes it does eventually play the video but not every time and I don't know how to reproduce that yet.

Video on a new profile:

Does it work without extensions?:
No.

Does it work on a clean profile?:
No.

This does not occur on Orion RC Sonoma, Orion Beta Mojave or Safari.

Playback should start immediately.

    I open this website:

    I click play button expecting the video to start playing but nothing happens while a spinner runs at the bottom of the player.

    This is on Mojave. Same site works fine in Catalina. Same site also works fine in Safari on both Mojave and Catalina (last available versions for each).

    On Catalina tested with both latest Catalina-specific RC download and copy of latest Mojave-specific RC downloaded copied from Mojave system with the same result (it works so the issue is not with the Mojave build and guessing that means something specific to the Mojave/Orion combination).

    I expected it to play/stream the video. The site basically provides a continuous 24x7 video stream. I often leave this running in the background on my Mojave system while I work.

      Just saw "Abnormally long buffering before video playback [RC] [Mojave]" and this may be a duplicate of that.

      Merged 2 posts from Web video player spins on Mojave but works fine on Catalina (and works fine in Safari on both).

        Issue still persists on 0.99.126.4.1.7-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)

          Should be fixed in last RC

            Vlad I just tested the latest RC [Version 0.99.126.4.1.8-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)
            Build date Feb 29 2024] on Mojave and can confirm the issue is fixed for me / the website I mentioned above. Thanks!
