I am not sure how to reproduce this issue. The websites are freeze, either blank or in a normal appearance but non-responsive. Always takes a second refresh to bring it up.

Normal browser experience is expected.

Version 0.99.126.4.1.5-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)

Sonoma (14)

I am having the same problem with the latest RC [0.99.126.4.1.5-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)] (testing on Catalina). The issue appears to be links that redirect. I can reproduce easily with Google -- if I search for webkit and then click on the link to the Webkit.org site, I get a refresh of the search results. If I just type in webkit.org, it goes right to the site.

I occasionally experienced something like this with earlier beta versions where after a while if I had a lot of tabs open and then tried to open a link in a new tab, it would just refresh the page. If I restarted Orion, everything went back to normal. The issue with this RC is a little different -- once in a website, right-clicking on a link to open in a new tab seems to work fine. But every time I do a regular click on a link from Google search results to open it, Orion just refreshes the window.

Note this is an Orion RC that downloaded itself from Orion RC installer after subscribing to Orion+ and it appears to run independent from my regular profile (i.e. the one created by my original use of an earlier Orion Beta).

Also FYI I just tested with the Orion Beta that I downloaded directly in December (December 13th version) and it also had the same problem. Then I just tested Origin Beta from July 31 [Version 0.99.125-beta (WebKit 616.1.22)] and it did not have this issue while sharing the same profile as the Orion Beta.

Let me know if this helps or if you need to see any other settings or run any further tests.

Vlad It's probably not catalina specific, as I am also experiencing the same problem in Sonoma.

bzgnyc @orionlover Please share list of your active web-extensions (if any).

Also, can you please look for WebKit process crashes(if any), as com.apple.WebKit.WebContent.Orion_*.ips files under ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports directory, and can share with us here, so that we can investigate the issue further.

dino This is my active extension right at the moment.

I have no extensions loaded -- pretty much a clean install.

There were no files related to Orion under that folder. If I need to enable debugging or something else just let me know.

Also, I just tried the latest build on both Catalina and Monterey:
            Version 0.99.126.4.1.6-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)
            Build date Feb 8 2024

The problem persists on Catalina while I didn't experience on Monterey (though testing was briefer). In both cases I started with a clean account.

Interesting if a bug in Catalina that was fixed by Monterey but came back in Sonoma. Or perhaps a different bug on each platform with similar manifestations?

Anything else you want me to test please let me know.

bzgnyc I was able to do a quick test this morning with the same Orion RC installer on a Mojave system (which I assume means the installer downloaded and self-installed the Orion Mojave binary) and could not reproduce this problem on that system. It always went to the site on the first try and never simply just refreshed the screen when I clicked on a link.

With our limited datapoints so far it appears:

              -Mojave: Good
              -Catalina: Reload bug
              -Monterey: Good
              -Sonoma: Reload bug

Also as another test, I copied the downloaded Mojave Orion RC back to the Catalina system and it behaved the same as the Catalina Orion RC.

I'm now hard pressed to think what changed in Catalina from Mojave that isn't bundled into Orion (e.g. you bundled your own WebKit so that's not it) that would cause Orion RC to behave this way.

FYI Version 0.99.127.2-rc (WebKit 619.1.1) Build date Apr 4 2024 fixed this issue for me. Much appreciated!
