Yeah I've seen the order of regular tabs getting mexed up on restart. We will investigate further
Pinned tabs don't keep their order after restart of Orion
@janpeeters can you capture this on video please?
- Edited
Of course @Vlad
@janpeeters please try with latest RC 126.4.1.8 and let us know if that fixes the issue
Hi @dino it is a lot more stable. But if I give it a real stress test by activating all inactive tabs in three tab groups and then closing the browser and reopening it and doing it again and again, you'll see at the end of the video that the first two pinned tabs in the first two tab groups get switched.
If you watch from 1:11 you save yourself some time, but before that time I'm doing as described and all tabs stay in their right place. Hopefully you can hunt down the last glitch and thanks for the work so far!
@dino I just tested
Version 0.99.126.4.1.9-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)
Build date Mar 7 2024 on
MacBook Pro (macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 build 23C71)
And the shuffling still occurs after a few restarts.

can also confirm: I have 4 pin tabs. On every launch of orion, these tabs appear in a random order. I can do all the reordering I wish, upon quit+reopen orion, the order is not retained.
Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
Build date Dec 14 2023
Mac Studio (macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 build 23D60)
Also -> another bug I just noticed: my machine is a macbook pro 14" M3 MAX, not a Mac Studio !
Same here, 8 pinned tabs, random order after restart every time.
Orion Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
M2 MacBook Air, macOS Sonoma 14.4 (23E214)
Hey the issue still exist with regular tabs. Why the "Done" tag?

Version 0.99.128.2.1-rc (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2)
Build date Aug 3 2024
MacBook Pro (macOS Sonoma 14.5 build 23F79)
janpeeters Care to show a video of it?
@vlad I’ve posted videos of the problem before, nothing new to show.

@Vlad I realized that without a new video you might not get clear what's happening so here it is.
Look at the first two tabs of the news section, they switch places. I've done another test (not recorded) where the third and fourth pinned tabs switched placed.
In general it's a lot better, most icons stay in their position, but the underlying problem is not fixed completely.
I've been thinking if the speed with which I activate the tabs and close the browser prevents the data to be written correctly to the preference file but it also happens in regular (slower) use. I've also considered a corrupt profile, but I've tried this with many clean profiles and the problem keeps occurring. Hopefully some new insights come up! Best of luck with it.
