Beta (TestFlight) option for Orion+
members. I understand it’s all “beta” for iOS but I’d like the option for the latest builds to see if it fixes some recent lag issues after iOS 17.2. Also makes pushing feedback through TestFlight easier.

Helping end users push feedback on testing/RC builds.

filimentation There is testflight available on iOS for orion+ and contributor roles. The link for it is in the discord when you either have the orion+ or contributor role.

Vlad Going thru chemo right now so a bug report isn’t priority and I’ll deal with it. Lag as in jitter when opening a new tab, jitter when right panel is expanded, etc. I have lockdown on so that might be causing it as well.

Vlad Also appears Orion iOS is hitting battery pretty hard. Twice as much battery as streaming a movie over the internet via PLEX? And doing so in 1/2 the usage time of PLEX? I’ve switched back over to Safari for the interim.

safari and orion usage seem to be pretty similar:
here, higher means more battery used.

orion battery% usage per min: 26% /77 min≈0.337
safari battery% usage per min: 11% /32 min≈0.344

Ok I can now post how to reproduce. Also, it appears to also affect the Vivaldi browser, but not Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. My educated guess is it’s either something in WebKit vs Chrome, or having the keyboard on the bottom.

Steps to reproduce.
1) open Orion
2) keyboard to bottom
3) have 10+ tabs open.

System
iPhone 14
iOS 17.2.1
Orion 1.3.5 (3) (WebKit 8617.1.17.10.9)

Symptoms
1) Keyboard stutters when coming from hidden at bottom of screen.
2) new tab window stutters when coming from right side of screen
3) full browser lockup for 10-20 seconds before resolving itself. This is random and I cannot find a pattern. I’m not sure if there’s a way to send you a log via the Orion iOS app right after the lockup.

Appears not to happen when first opening the tabs. Maybe something with tab sleep mode?

I’ve also turned on debug mode for Orion. If this gets stored locally let me know where and I can get it over to you the next time it freezes.
