optuma On brave if you enable speed reader it will detect articles that can be simplified and will do it for you automatically can we have support for this? https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045031392-What-is-SpeedReader
Vlad optuma As commented already by @Fortrikka it already exists. I wonder why was this not obvious and how we can improve the discoverability of this feature?
Fortrikka This already exists. Press shift+command+R. Also, the reader mode icon will appear if it is available for that specific webpage. It is based on Firefox's, although it works for webpages that have over 200,000 words and even more.
Fortrikka Vlad One way is to take the Safari approach: Just make it always shown. Another approach is to fade "Reader mode available" for this website in the address bar whenever reader mode is available. Check IOS Safari. It seems it is not shown on desktop Safari 15.
Vlad Fortrikka Safari shows the icon only when the reader mode is available. In order to do that safari has to process the entire page to check that once it is loaded. This a slow process that slows browsing. Our approach is different, we always try to convert to reader mode when user clicks the icon. But we felt that the icon then should not be always visible.
ForumNinja404 Vlad This issue can be marked as done. Orion supports reader mode and the ability to turn it on automatically per-site. The reader mode functionality is equivalent to the functionality described in Brave.
