The dev tools shortcut is Cmd + Option + I

This is standardised across browsers, and also is the shortcut to close the dev tools

In FF and Chromium, Cmd + W closes the tab even if focus is in the dev tools (maybe in other browsers also)

Vote to maintain the the standard and maintain a smooth experience here for those who come from Chrome and FF

Vlad I'm replying to Fortrikka suggesting that the shortcut key is not changed and giving some reasoning why

Ah, I understand the original issue, web inspector doesn't close with Cmd + W when it is popped out, but it feels like it should close it

Vlad The window that is currently focused. So for example, the history menu closes with command+w, so the web inspector tab should close as well.

Vlad changed the title to Allow command+w to close web inspector dev console. .

Hello! Right now the correct way to close devtools from keyboard is cmd-opt-i. This is in contrast to other browsers, which support cmd+w as a way to close it when it's open as a separate window. I know it's small but it really messes up my workflow. 🙂

asolovyov No worries I just remember seeing it. One of the staff will merge it all good.

Merged 4 posts from Ability to close separate devtools window with cmd+w.
Fortrikka changed the title to ⌘W does not close web inspector .
