Merged 5 posts from Extensions no longer work with installed web app..

I have the same request for being able to access extensions via web apps. For example, the Dark Reader extension (installed directly from "Popular Apps") doesn't work on web apps correctly. It does not respect the "follow system setting" toggle and turns all my web apps dark permanently, the only way to circumvent this is to disable the extension during the day.

I'd love for extensions to be implemented on web apps the same way Safari does it, attached is a screenshot of how it looks. It is still a stripped down web app experience, but the extensions and their respective menus and popups are still accessible via the toolbar (which can be hidden as well).

Nebula If we keep adding features to it, it stops being a lightweight web app and soon we get to the full browser functionality. We have to draw a line somewhere.

I completely understand. However, what we want is to merely be able to access extension menus, as extensions are already enabled by default on web apps (ie. web apps already port over extension functionality from the main browser, but we are not able to access nor disable these extensions). Either allow us to configure these extensions, or let web apps stand on their own without extensions being ported over from the main browser. This current in-between approach I believe stands against your ethos of web apps being lightweight and standalone, and is not very user-friendly too.

Thanks for all the good work on Orion so far though! It's the best browser I've found out there for mac so far.

Nebula A full browser is several 'merely' steps away.

Also Orion allows you to select default profile for web apps, and you can create/use one without extensions.

            • When a site is added as an app, the extensions load in when using the web app as well.
            • Many users would prefer using web apps for sites they visit daily. Being able to use extensions in the web app itself rather than opening the browser to access the site to use it with extensions just makes things easier.

            • For example using youtube. There are many extensions that many people use with youtube (Auto Skip Ads, Enhancer for Youtube, Unhook, Return Youtube Dislike etc.) Getting these in the web app itself could make things a bit easier for several people.
            • I have taken Unhook as an example of an extension for all the following screenshots. (Edit: Unhook hides recommendations, shorts and several other distracting elements)

            • Youtube as a website on Orion:

            • Youtube on Orion web app:

            • Microsoft Edge already has this feature.

            • Youtube on Microsoft Edge Web App.

This is actually important for one class of extensions only. I use 1Password for all passwords and looked at moving to this for odoo that requires periodic logins. Sadly without my password this is a non starter for me and I simply went back to Safari....

same here, not able to trigger Bitwarden to fill-in passwords is quite inconvenient ...
