IPad background battery drain

I tested the browser a bit. Tested out facebook, spotify, youtube, weather website, and installed uBlock Origin. I left all those tabs open and just minimized the Orion app (i may have tried a few other sites like gogoanime but didn't leave them open). Then after i woke up, my Battery section said Orion had been on screen 34min, and in the background 45min and was my highest battery usage at 35%. 6% higher than a mobile game i had on for 55min. I don't remember how much my battery actually went down overnight but i think it was approaching 10%. I don't have any of those background app refresh settings turned on. I'm using Orion's Low Power Mode. Do I have to make sure I close Orion after every use? Is there a setting I should change? Closing the app seems to have prevented it, but I don't really wanna test leaving it open again.

I expected the background activity to be closer to Chrome, which had 8min of background of activity for me in the previous 10 days.

Ore Orion should behave the same as Safari or Chrome regarding battery usage on iOS as all of them use WebKit. Since we did not have any complaints before about battery usage and you have not provided a comparison with Safari/Chrome in the same circumstances, I tend to believe that what you saw was nothing unusual and that Safari/CHrome would do the same. If you really want to make tia bug report we can act we need to have steps to reproduce an unusual behavior compared to another browsers in same circumstances.

Saying that Orion used 35% batter means nothing on its own without data to ground that. 35% can be both too high and too low depending on what it was doing.

just for proof that no other browser does this for me, and orion shouldn't. how do i submit a bug report to find out why it did this?

Ore Hm it is not clear what the screenshot show nor how to reproduce it.

You want minimum reproducible steps that show without a doubt that Orion uses more battery than for example Safari in exactly same circumstances. Likely this will involve something like using Orion in specific scenarion for example 10 minutes, then doing the same in Safari and measuring Battery impact.

Vlad my first 2 pictures showed battery activity since the last charge. the second 2 pictures show the battery activity of the past 10 days. all i was doing was trying to replace chrome as my main browser so i used it the exact same way i did over most of those 10 days, including leaving it open overnight with those same tabs open. the only thing that's different is orion using uBlock origin

Ore So perhaps uBO is the one draining battery , not Orion?

Vlad yes thats possible and i dont really wanna test it lol but i think the devs should. unless i can submit a bug report or something without having to test it again

Ore There are 300,000 extensions out there and we can't and don't want to be responisble for what they do or behave, lest a bug in Orion itself.

We are very obssessed with Orion performance though and readilly fix any issues.

Vlad you're gonna have to make sure uBlock Origin works well in Orion so everyone can use the most popular ad blocker, and one of the main reasons to even use Orion in iOS

Ore uBlock Orign does not work on Orion iOS and can not work due to Apple restrictions.
