Pinned tabs are great beacuse I ca go to a specific webpage everytime I open my browser, however, once I am in the page I pinned, I often navigate through the website and open new links. The expected behavior is that whenever I "close" the pinned tab, or close the browser, the nex time I open it it does not open with the last link I visited in that tab, but with the initial link which was pinned.

example: I pin my notion workspace and then I navigate it and open pages and links. the following day I don't want to clic on the pinned tab and open the last thing I visited, but the workspace which I have pinned in the first place.

example 2: I pin youtube, use it for a while, then in the same tab search for instagram instead of using a new tab. when I close and reopen the browser, the pinned tab should restore to the original - youtube - link, not instagram.

Vlad Yes, if i pin a tab like Reddit homepage in Safari, then navigate through it opening different subreddits or external link, when I close and reopen safari and open the pinned tab it goes back to the original link. An option while browsing in a pinned tab to right clic and select "go to original link" would make it even better.

I need this too. In Arc when you navigate from the pinned url the name of the pinned tab is prepended with a forward slash to visually indicate that you have moved from the pinned url. When you hover over the related favicon then there is an option to click to go 'Back to pinned url'. This makes it way easier to manage a set of pinned tabs and have the option at any time of returning to that initially pinned value. Another nice option is if you do navigate to a new page you can update the pinned url to that new one if desired.

You could also choose to leave the pinned tab at the page where you have browsed to, but if you click the pinned tab a second time it resets to the original page.

The above feature suggestion is great add a (contextual menu) command where you can set current page to tab default.

Arc just implemented it like this. Might be a good solution:

janpeeters How in the world are users going to discover this? 🙂 (cmd click pinned tab icon)

@vlad I agree it might not be the most discoverable, UI-designwise, but who in the world knows all Apple’s hidden option-reveal menu items?
But it’s a sane to consider if all functionality of an app should be clear from the UI.

janpeeters Apple shortcuts have been around over the last 20 years and at least native apps are expected to follow them (this is what means to be native). That is different from an app inventing a pattern and expecting it to be discoverable. I do like the gesture, just there is no way people will know about it.
