Not Exposing URL to 3rd Party Autofill Service (Strongbox)
Thanks for the clear explanation!
Just tested this. Official StrongBox extension does not work, tried both Firefox and Chrome extension. The extensions work in their designated browsers so this looks like Orion missing some APIs required for the extension. The extensions say that they cannot connect to StrongBox even though it's running.
Tested this again with current build. Strongbox Firefox extension is working now and can connect to Strongbox.
Just tried installing the Firefox Strongbox extension (v. 1.2.3) in Orion Version 0.99.128.2.1-beta (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2) and it connects to Strongbox but doesn't find any entries at all, neither with domain matching or search. Creating a new entry in the database gives an error, but actually works and shows up in Strongbox.
Not sure if this is a problem on Orion's or Strongbox' end. Here's some screenshots:
- Edited
- It works if the Domain of the website matches the URL in the password entry
- It works if the Domain of the website is stored in an attribute - e.g. URL1 - DO NOT USE KPA2_URL - See https://strongbox.reamaze.com/kb/autofill/add-multiple-urls-to-an-entry for more information about adding another URL to a password entry
The current Autofill behaviour keeps me from switching to Orion. Password integration is essential to me. I am sorry to say, the Strongbox Autofill and URL detection is so much more reliable in Safari and Chromium. Whereas in Orion you have to adjust the URLs constantly and switch between Strongbox 3rd Party extension and the native macOS implementation.
Not technically on-topic, perhaps - but if you’re using Strongbox you may wish to review that decision.
