I have noticed the same issue:

PDF Preview Not Loading Properly in Orion RC Browser

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Orion RC browser version 0.99.125.4-rc (WebKit 617.1.6) on macOS Sonoma 14.1 beta build 23B5046f

  2. Navigate to a website with a PDF link, such as Proton Mail, Proton Drive or HubSpot

  3. Click on the PDF link to open it in Orion

  4. Observe that the PDF preview does not load properly

Expected Behavior:
The PDF preview should load immediately and properly display the contents of the PDF file.

Actual Behavior:
The PDF preview is blank (Proton Drive) or fails to load completely (HubSpot) in Orion RC browser.

System Information:

  • Orion RC Version: 0.99.125.4-rc (WebKit 617.1.6)
  • Build date: Sep 27 2023
  • Hardware: MacBook Pro M1 Pro
  • OS: macOS Sonoma 14.1 beta build 23B5046f

Comparison:
The issue does not occur in Safari browser on the same hardware and OS version. PDF previews load correctly in Safari.

Additional Information:
I have recorded a video showing the PDF preview loading issue in Orion RC browser compared to the proper behavior in Safari.

        I have not been able to find a public website for the issue with HubSpot yet but I found the following error on the console:

        HubSpot (Compatibility Mode Enabled)

        HubSpot (Compatibility Mode Disabled)

        Regarding Proton Drive, I have shared a PDF from my own account to be publicly available so it can be tested properly.

            Maxpl01t Good call to share a link from Proton Drive. The issue is the same as with Mail and I can confirm it doesn't work for me (as with Mail) on Orion RC

                      Both @Maxpl01t's Drive link and my tests in Proton Mail are not working in the latest RC

                        I also have this issue, on both Orion and Orion RC. Can help provide info if needed!

                        Same issue here. Click on a PDF attachment opens an empty PDF preview for me.

                        Would @dino or others have an idea on which flags/settings in Orion to change to make this work?

                          I took this screenshot of the dev console errors. Perhaps it helps.

                              Today updated to Orion Version 0.99.126.4-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
                              and I can confirm that PDFs do load at Protonmail now.
