  • Create a new tab, start entering a URL
  • Realise you need to look back at a previous tab quickly before you finish typing the URL, so click outside of the URL area to view your tabs again
  • Lose what you had been typing in the URL bar, since it has been erased when focus was lost.

Safari behaviour is to retain entered text (even on a new tab that hasn't navigated to any page) in the URL bar on a per-tab basis, including when switching between tabs.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Search for a website (It's easier to reproduce on a website that takes longer to load)
    2. Before the website loads, press cmd+t
    3. Start typing in the search bar of the new tab before the website in the other tab loads

    Expected behavior:
The typed search in the new tab should not be deleted when the first tab loads.

    Version 0.99.109.1-beta (WebKit 613.1.12)

    MacbookPro18,3

gp That looks pretty similar. I think what's happening is when the search bar loses focus the text inside is deleted. In this bug, when the other tab loads, the focus is switched to the other tab by orion, whereas in that other bug, the focus is manually switched.

          Steps to reproduce:

          1. Focus on the address bar (Cmd + L)
          2. Type something
          3. Click somewhere else
          4. Focus once again on the address bar

          Expected behavior:
What you have typed in step 2 should still be in the address bar, while Orion has erased it.

This is mainly suggestion to be more consistent with Safari. In Safari, when unfocusing by clicking off the address bar or pressing escape, the currently typed text in the address bar is preserved. This is useful for when you have a partially typed search/url and need to tab away to check or do something. Currently, Orion resets the address bar to the page url. In Safari, you can reset the address bar to the current page url by pressing escape twice.

                  Steps to reproduce:
Open new tab, fill something in address bar, go to other tab and back.

                  Expected behavior:
Persistence, especially when doing this in a new tab

                  Orion, OS version; hardware type:

this is definitely a dupe, but i can't find it

cactus you mean this? When clicked outside the address bar the address bar will be made empty. (Safari wont clear the address bar, see video)

Merged 3 posts from Address bar doesn't stay filled in when switching to other tab and back.

When in an empty new tab (the start page), when you type in the URL bar and then click off it (for whatever reason), the text just typed is deleted. So you have to re-type what you just typed.

It would be nice if the text could remain in the URL bar.
