Make orion scroll better while using arrow keys

orion scrolls maddeningly slow while using arrow keys, it feels like it has "scroll with inertia" or smth, whatever it is it drives me nuts. also i feel like there is a small delay before it scrolls after i hold down the arrow key. Chrome does a much better job but even chrome isnt perfect, in the vid u can see hoe there is a small bump in the way it scrolls in the beginning only later it becomes smooth(i just hold down the down arrow key, i dont press and release or anything), atleast its instantaneous feedback, it begins to scroll as soon as i touch the arrow key.

if some users prefer the smooth scrolling maybe have a feature?

Just in case you didn't know, you can scroll in larger chunks by holding Option + arrow. Command + arrow also goes to the bottom of the page. I see what you referring to with the inertia but personally I like it.

For what it's worth, I tested the scrolling speed in Orion, Safari, Firefox and Brave on orionfeedback.org and Orion is fastest to reach the bottom of the page with the down arrow.

Dustin yea orion may be the fastest, but usually when i want to scroll all the way to the bottom i just command + arrow key it or spam gesture on trackpad, i only use arrow keys to scroll presisely and the inertia completely messes it up. i want insta feedback and i want it to be consistent, i suppose they can have an option in settings to enable/disable inertia, im pretty sure apple does it in system preferences?

what's weird is that safari and orion behave differently when pressing down arrow
safari scrolls down without smooth scroll, orion does

I think this is related to a recent WebKit change. It first showed up in Safari Technology Preview 162, specifically this commit.

The WebKit behavior has since been tweaked a bit in STP 163, but it still feels somewhat different from other apps (e.g. scrolling with arrow keys bounces at the top and bottom), and Orion may not have picked up that change yet.

yeah since this seems to be controlled by webkit, I don't think orion can really change this. ig wait for a later webkit version to make it better

@Vlad I think this is getting worse and becomes a bug now.

For example, reddit.com, wikipedia page, and even this site orionfeedback.org, up and down arrow is not scrolling the page at all.

FF and Safari don't have this issue.

JSiuDev Could you attach a video? What extensions do you have installed?
Does compatibility mode change anything?

up/down arrow works fine for me

eirk This is getting weird.

I disabled all my extensions, restarted Orion, up down arrows worked.

Then I enabled extension 1 by 1 and full reload page each time, up down arrows worked.

I restarted Orion, up down arrows continue to work.🤦‍♂️
