there are certain websites that won't recognize either a normal click and/or even command-click which means having to invoke the context menu, and there lays the small issue here..
quick way is to open into a new tab/window but the problem with that is that it breaks navigation because when you're done looking at the image/url you can't browse back to the originating page itself
more compounding way is to right-click and copy address then paste that into address bar and hit return, that at least preserves navigation chronology but still
so therefore I'm lightly suggesting 'open in window' being added above 'open in new tab' in the context menu
I don't have urls-related examples on hand right now tonight but as for images I know of these two right away: en.wikipedia.org won't recognize a normal click on images, and macintoshgarden.org won't recognize even a command-click on any screenshots
(just to help, heres one such anyone-safe example for the latter: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/gregs-browser )
