Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into any website, e.g. orionfeedback.org
  2. Open a new Private Window
  3. Go to said website
  4. User is logged in

Expected behavior:
Private Mode MUST NOT share any browsing info with the user's profile.

This is a critical bug.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.123-beta (WebKit 615.1.11.7), MacOS 10.14, MBP 13

What method of logging in do you use for orionfeedback? Could you name another website where you're able to reproduce this issue?

I was not able to reproduce this on Version 0.99.123.1-rc (WebKit 615.1.16.1) and Version 0.99.123.1-beta (WebKit 615.1.16.1) on MacBook Air (macOS Ventura 13.2 build 22D49). I know there have been issues like this especially when using gmail/other google services (https://orionfeedback.org/d/3210)

webpsupporter Seems to work fine for me. If I reproduce your step (log in into oriofeedback, open a Private Window and go to orionfeedback), user is not logged in.

Same happens for Google, YouTube and other site such as newspaper and other email provider ( laiz ). I'm logged in on those on "normal" windows and not logged in in Private ones.

      I'm using Orion 123.1-beta (Wk 615.1.16.1) and macOS Ventura 13.1 (22C65).

laiz I am using standalone username/password login. I created a new profile to make sure this was related to the browser itself and not some config mismatch between upgrades, if any.

charlyt1d it also happens in Github. Again, plain old user/pass with some 2FA, but that shouldn't make any difference IMHO. I cannot reproduce this with a custom mail server however.

I tried emptying the cache, but that didn't make any difference either. Deleting cookies is kind of pointless since this shouldn't happen at all in the first place, but in case you are wondering, it keeps me logged in on Private mode. it sure logs me out (sorry, I didn't test this correctly the first time).

I am using Mojave, so maybe that could be the key to the puzzle.

Vlad changed the title to Private mode uses profile's data (mojave) .

webpsupporter Which Orion version you are using? if you haven't updated to 123.1, please update and let us know if still reproducible.

dino Hi, I updated right after posting, apologies.

I followed the same steps, the problem is still there. Version 0.99.123.1-beta

Same issue: Private windows are only private in name. They function exactly like non-private windows (shared cookies, kept browsing history).

              Version 0.99.123.1-rc (WebKit 615.1.16.1)
MacBook Pro (macOS Catalina 10.15.7 build 19H2026)

I'm not an expert/developer/tech savvy at all and I don't want to be looked at like one, but @Vlad I think it has to do with macOS 10.xx, because both @webpsupporter and @pieterv are using those versions of macOS and both are using the last release of Orion (123.1).
