  • Stop Favourites Appearing in Search Autocomplete Suggestions

  • BugsDesktopDone

Hi,

When I click on the addressbar I automatically get a drop down menu making Search Suggestions from my Favourites folder.

The screen shot I have uploaded shows exact what I am describing, but in my case the drop down menu just shows the word "Favourites because my Favourites folder is empty.

The point is that the drop down menu is large and intrusive and I do not ever want to see that appearing when I click the addressbar.

I know that it is possible to disable Search Suggestions for Top Hits, Search Engine, History, Bookmarks and Open Tabs in the Settings.

I want to disable Search Suggestions from Favourites, but for some reason Orion did NOT include disabling Search Suggestions from Favourites and I can not find any other way to stop this very annoying behaviour.

Could Orion please be updated to include disabling Search Suggestions from Favourites.

Favorites should not show when it is empty (goes for any other start page section in autocomplete box).

      Hi,

This behaviour is NOT triggered by any Start Page, I can be viewing any website at all and when I click on the addressbar to type in a website address this behaviour happens, Orion seems to regard any entry as a Search Engine query and begins offering Search Autocomplete Suggestions.

Favourites appearing in Search Autocomplete Suggestions is happening in a large intrusive drop down menu as shown in the attached screenshot, do you have any thoughts on why this occurs when my Favourites is completely empty?

Do you have any suggestions to stop this intrusive and annoying behaviour.

Why is there NO option to exclude Favourites from Autocomplete Suggestions included in the Orion Settings?

I hope that this was an oversight and will be corrected soon.

It was an oversight in the same way the other 1,500 open issues on this site were an 'oversight'. Building a browser is hard.

I am so happy to see that Orion developers are taking quick action on this and that it is planned to fixed in the "NEXT RELEASE" of your browser.

Many thanks for getting this annoying oversight corrected so promptly.

I do not want to pop up my favorites list and frequent visits list when I type in the URL bar of an existing tab if I am sharing my screen with other people. So I expect adding a setting option to close it. Just want to keep my privacy as much as possible when I am sharing the screen.

For example, in Firefox, you can disable the address suggestions of bookmarks, history, etc. So for Orion, maybe the pop-up panel of favorites and frequent visits could be also disabled when typing in the URL address bar.

KarunaXY I recall there was already a feature suggestion for this, can you find it so that I can merge the two?

Vlad Thanks for your reply. Yes, there is a feature suggestion (shown in the enclosed image), but it only works when you want to type in an empty address bar, and also does not contain the option to disable the popped-up favorites and frequent visits when there is already a URL of the current tab in the address bar.

If my description does not make sense, please feel free to share any comments. Thanks.

KarunaXY I meant somebody suggested the same thing you did, and if you can find that post on this site I can merge into it.

Merged 5 posts from Expect No Pop-ups When Type in the URL bar of an Existing Tab.

Vlad I don't know why it is marked as done, but I believe this suggested feature cannot be achieved in the current release Version 0.99.126.2-beta (WebKit 618.1.2) Build date Nov 10 2023.

Vlad Hi, if you are not considering this feature, please let me know. I will not keep an eye on it in the next year. Thanks 🙂

KarunaXY Can you post it again as it is cleary different?
