0xCUBE It is somewhat expected jusding from the name of the extension.

Now what is intriguing for us to look at is does this indeed happen in compatibility mode too? Meaning privacy badger still manages to break this even if you are in compatibility mode. If you can reproduce this (with a video) please let us know.

Vlad I was not able to reproduce the issue in compatibility mode. It might have just been a fluke. However, it is definitely this extension because disabling it brings back the sign in with google prompt right away.

0xCUBE I feel bad for thousands of users who will not be able to figure that it is the extension and not Orion causing the issue.

Vlad yeah lol have you been able to reproduce it without compatibility mode? For now the only sites that I had issues with were Reddit and Twitter but there could be a lot more. Maybe it's worth contacting the developers of the extension to see what might be triggering it to be blocked.

Also this is with default settings in the extension, I also reproduced the issue in Orion RC. I'll make a video now.

Hmm ok one more interesting thing I found is that if I disable privacy badger, refresh, re-enable it, refresh, then the thing magically stays there and works fine, albeit with a different font.

          Please do!

@Vlad Ok so I have some news that may be good and may be bad. So this issue has already been mentioned on the extension's GitHub page and the solution seems to be to whitelist accounts.google.com...
I guess it makes sense that they want better security but the users should know if things are going to break with default settings.

EDIT: Based on the above issue, it seems that they have been trying to integrate a solution to the problem since...2014...but it has largely been at pause recently: https://github.com/EFForg/privacybadger/issues/137

              0xCUBE Great detective work, thanks.

The problem remains that almost every user using privacy badger hitting this problem, will think it is Orion problem and not an extension issue.

Vlad yeah for sure. Since the extension is in the "Popular Extensions" section, is it possible to make tweaks to the extension upon installation, just to whitelist accounts.google.com and whatever else is needed?

0xCUBE think we'd rather remove it from there then have to maintain yet another project 🙂

ForumNinja404 changed the title to Privacy Badger breaks Google login on some sites .

@Vlad This issue is a NoFix. Users with Privacy Badger installed should allow accounts.google.com within the extension’s settings. There are issues on the extension’s GitHub page, for those looking for more information.

If anyone is still experiencing problems with Google SSO, a new issue should be created with the relevant information.
