  • Address bar stays inactive when clicking on the magnifying glass

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a new tab or window
  2. Deselect the address bar by clicking outside of it (but keeping Orion the active window)
  3. Click in the address bar, specifically on the magnifying glass icon
  4. The address bar doesn't get selected/become active

Expected behavior:
Address does get selected / become active.

Safari's behaviour: activates address bar and shows available search engines (to toggle/activate) + recent searches. I don't think Orion necessarily needs to replicate this behaviour, but the address bar does need to become active.

Orion and macOS:
Orion - 0.99.108.1 (WebKit 613.1.10)
macOS - Big Sur 11.6.1

Can reproduce. It's only for the magnifying glass icon though, everywhere else seems to work fine.

    Device: MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)
    OS: macOS Monterey Version 12.0.1
    Orion: Version 0.99.108.1-beta (WebKit 613.1.10)

    2 months later

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Create a new tab
    • Give focus to somewhere in the main browser window, not in the search bar (the search icon and hint text in the location bar will be centred at this point)
    • Attempt to give focus to the location bar by clicking on the magnifying glass icon
    • Find that clicking the magnifying glass itself does not give focus to the search box.

    Expected behavior:
Clicking the magnifying glass icon should give focus to the location bar, like clicking the rest of the location bar does.

    Version 0.99.110-beta

eirk changed the title to Address bar stays inactive when clicking on the magnifying glass .
Merged 3 posts from Clicking on the "search" icon in the de-focused location bar does not give focus to location bar.

Done (cannot reproduce, probably due to address bar restructure when profiles were added)
