There is something Safari had over the past years. But I am sure it's limited in use cause its more for banks that send verification code for a transaction or maybe for Google or other sites that sending 2 factor auth codes via sms.

So in the screenshot below it's Orion that won't grab the digit I just received for 2 factor auth and I need to write it down.

Safari is grabbing that auth code and clicks ok to move on the authentication process almost in every site.

I hope that reminds something to someone.. I was using it daily when needed!

piratx Does current version of Safari have this?

If so is there a site where we can easily reproduce this?

Vlad Yes, all versions of Safari for the last 5 years have this. It's many sites that you can test it.
I would say yandex.com is an easy one. Just make an account (if you don't have one already) and add your phone as 2 factor auth then you need to allow your iPhone in Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding to on on the device you need to test it. etc MacBook, iMac etc.

Also, it's surely available in most bank sites, when money is transfer they ask for the code received via SMS etc.

While I would love to see this in Orion I've yet to actually see it implemented in any app other than Safari. I'm unsure if it's possible but would love if it is.

Good start would be someone digging up an API or a code example how to do it. It would accelerate this 10x.

Perhaps AppleScript? The macOS Messages app does have an AppleScript Dictionary.

A quick search on StackOverflow yielded this possible solution

Thanks for the link we will have a look. Need to prioritize OTP implementation first end to end. SMS becaomse a rare use case when you have OTP fully set in browser.

in the latest mac os, and ios, auto filling two factor authentication received via text messages is now supported in browsers besides safari, no other browser has embraced this support yet, and itd be great for users, and Orion to be the first.

Can you provide link to documentation or some examples?

I would love to see this. I was about to create a new topic for this but decided to search. I tried to get Brave browser to do this, to no avail. Hopefully, Orion can get this done!

We still need a link to any documentation that would allow su to do this (likely not a public feature)

I wish I could be more help. I'll poke around when I get a chance to see if any searching comes up with anything. I'm just a C# guy who's never done much work for the Apple ecosystem.

Found a WWDC presentation about this feature here. I'm not sure if this can be of any help to implement this feature on Orion. Honestly, this is a very beloved feature that I'm very much interested to be implemented. Password AutoFill starts at 7:27
