Vlad Just watch it on the hightest resolution on youtube at 1440p60 and you will see the stutter very prominently.

taranbeer Ok I am checking Orion vs Safari and it looks exactly the same to me. What am I missing?

Vlad In that video at 0:12 and 0:59 you can see as I scroll up on Orion there are stutters and it isn't a smooth movement of the page.
Are you trying on M1 Air Mac?

      • Vlad replied to this.

taranbeer Thanks for pointing that out. It is not clear that the stutter originates from Orion and could be a system-related hick-up that occured at that moment.

I tried to reproduce that but both browsers behave the same.

Vlad Yeah this is what I was pointing out and I to was coming to a conclusion that it could be a MacOS or M1 issue rather than the browser.
But I am not able to understand how Firfox is able to mitigate this, whereas webkit and chromiuim based browsers are basically affect by it the most.

Vlad Yes Safari does that too but not as bad as Orion, which should be inline with safari regarding the stutter/lags as it is based on webkit. Whereas Safari felt a lot smoother than Orion when scrolling.

And the video you showed, there are hiccups when scrolling on both safari and Orion but they are very close now.

My main concern is that it shouldn't happen altogether. It only ruins the experience of a really amazing browser that I really want to use but these stutter and lags just ruin it.

AyushPandey Can you do better than that (for example steps to reproduce and video(s) to show the difference?

I feel the same is happening on my machine as well. There are small(I assume) number of people, who are botherd with jittery scrolling, and unfortuantely, I am one of them. This could turn out to be the single most deciding factor of using a browser.
I love the Orion Browser, but lately, the scrolling has been off-putting, I mean, its fine for 99% of the folks, dont get me wrong, but I lay on that 1%.
Firefox and Safari seems to be the smoothest.

CyrusOnOrionBroser Spending time to complain without providing anything that can help us understand or reproduce the issue is not time well spent. We want to fix this, but in order to do so we need to udnerstand what the problem is.

                    Vlad Hello Vlad,

Looks like you are having a stressful day. But I am happy to help here.
If you read my comment once again, in order to reproduce the issue, you just need to use the product. Absolutely simple.

Problem Statement: Jittery scrolling on websites.
Machine: Intel based Macbook Pro 2017.

                    I hope this helps.

CyrusOnOrionBroser I have been using the product for the last 4 years and do not have the problem you describe. Hence the question.

Experiencing the same here. The videos uploaded before are a pretty good representation of my experience as well. There's no/very minimal framedrops while pressing the down arrow key to scroll on ft.com on Safari but quite a bit of stuttering on Orion. I wonder if it's some experimental flags enabled or disabled on Orion vs Safari, or is it some battery saving flag.
