Very limited contrast and readability on start page in dark mode
Try a dark background behind perhaps, like a pure black screen website behind the window of orion://startpage.
I am trying to diagnose exactly what is impacting this - it appears based on some preliminary testing that it's not as simple as dark/light mode. I think it could be to do with night shift and time-based setup, but testing that now.
In playing around, I was able to get it using white text in light mode.
In this video, I have "auto" dark/light mode appearance enabled, and "Night shift" turned on via "turn on until tomorrow" mode. On opening Orion initially (via spotlight search), it appears in this "strange state", with dark text in dark mode. I open Orion twice in this video just to show it's consistent.
Based on a bit of deduction, I think the issue may be simpler than I anticipated. I am able to reproduce the issue using the following steps:
- Quit Orion entirely
- Turn on manual "Dark" mode in System Preferences -> General
- Load Orion
- Quit Orion
- Turn on manual "Light" mode.
- Load Orion. Notice text is white-on-light.
I believe that the issue is that Orion uses the previous “text colour” on load, and waits until the system colour scheme changes, at which point Orion adjusts to the correct state. Therefore the “issue” appears to arise (at least for now) when the system light/dark states when Orion isn’t running.
Steps to reproduce:
Quite Orion, change light mode to dark mode theme in macOS preferences.
Launch Orion on Kagi, Google or orionfeedback
Expected behavior:
The webpage on the first launch of Orion without refreshing will become dark.
Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Orion 0.99.110
