Steps to reproduce:

This has been happening for several versions now, but it's hard to describe and it's hard to tell exactly what's happening. In the most recent instance, I was filling out a form on a health-related website and the page seems to reload, or go back or something. I end up on a page from the website saying that I'm not logged in, or I can't access that page. I then have to click the back button and pick back up where I left off. It has happened when I was trying to buy tickets on Ticketmaster to a show. I was filling out the form to purchase and had to keep hitting the back button to make it through (all while the countdown timer runs!) I've kept my hands off of the keyboard and it happens so not an inadvertent keystroke. It has happened on at least two of my computers, the other being a Mac Studio.
Usually happens on pages with higher security, i.e. health insurance website, college account website, Ticketmaster when buying tickets, and not during normal browsing of webpages.

The only extension I had on was Last Pass which I wasn't using. I removed it and the problem still exists.

Anyone else experiencing something like this?

    jwyoung5 We would require exact steps to reproduce at least in order to debug the issue.

        The best I could do on this would be a screen recording, but exact steps are impossible since it usually just happened without any kind of repeatable steps. At any rate, I'm wondering if it isn't related to iCloud sync. I removed all tab groups and disabled iCloud sync for now, and that seems to have fixed the problem. I've just now updated to the new version of Orion, and after a bit, I will slowly reintroduce iCloud sync back into mix and see if it comes back. Thanks.

          I'm experiencing the same issue, just as described.
          I also have iCloud Sync on and use Orion across three devices.

          The most reliable reproduction instruction I can come up with is to start and remain in a Google Meet meeting.
          I've had this problem on Google Meet in meetings alone and with others.

          Instructions:

          1. Turn on Orion iCloud Sync.
          2. Open a browser profile which is to be syned into iCloud.
          3. Navigate to https://meet.google.com/.
          4. Start and join a new meeting.
          5. Wait in the meeting.
          6. After 10 minutes of sitting in the meeting, note the "automatic-go-back" bug occurs!

          Effects:

          • The browser tab's URL is pointed at the previous address, and the rendered DOM shows this URL correctly.
          • The browser tab's network activity log is reset and empty.
          • I do not see anything out of the ordinary in the Orion debug log.

          Note, however, this issue is resolved by turning off Orion iCloud Sync.
          Try the instructions above again, and you will not be shuttled back but, you will see a popup from Google Meet if you're alone in the meeting.

          I suspect Google has a JS script that runs in the browser every 10 minutes to check if there is only one person present, and there's some kind mishandling of the tab when this script runs while iCloud Sync is watching the browser.

          This issue occurs in more than just Google Meet, and the point at which it occurs is not necessarily 10 minutes in all cases. But this worked for me.

          I've been getting this same issue. It isn't something I have been able to reproduce yet as it seems to happen to me mostly on new tabs and when I enter in a URL to a specific site which then loads before going forward to an empty page. Doesn't happen every time I enter a url but does seem to happen somewhere around 10% of the time. If I figure out how to reproduce it I'll add more details.

          I can say I've got effectively the same issue that @flummoxer mentions, I quickly open a new tab, type a search, hit enter and it'll start loading the content, then act as if I've just hit the back button and goes back to the new tab page. If I look at the history though, my search is there still, and I can hit back and it'll be back to where I left off.

          Same goes when going from a search to a linked page, sometimes it jumps back to the search and I need to click it again.

          It's very odd. I wonder if it's got to do with me primarily using a named tab group/window, which my understanding is it's synced via iCloud to my phone, perhaps somewhere in the sync process it's not too fond of me navigating that fast and returns me to my previous page during the sync?

          Can chime in with seeing the same behaviour.
          Very odd and hard to figure how or why it happens. I was half-blaming the mouse triggering the back button, but since it's a multi-device mouse and does not show the same behavior on the other computers that can't be it.

          From @wjziv comment, I've tried disabling the iCloud sync and see if that has any effect to it.

            Can also confirm the same behavior, disabling iCloud Sync seems to do the trick (not 100% sure as the bug is hard to reproduce but it's been a day without issue)

            EDIT: a week has passed and that issue hasn't happend again

              I am having the same issue, I'm on version 0.99.127.3-beta (WebKit 619.1.1). Problem can be seen on websites that redirect after login. Orion continuously hits the back key and becasue I'm logged in, it redirects back to where I was, so it keeps looping. Disabling iCloud sync stops it. Re-enabling, striggers it again. Happens on lots of apps I rely on daily, like stripe, aws, etc. So moving to Safari until fixed.

                I have stopped using Orion until this issue is really put to bed. I still pay every month, but if the iCloud sync doesn't work, I ain't using it. I find the synced Safari history to be perfect even if the iCloud tab sync isn't bulletproof in Safari. Either way, they're more usable than the headache that is this bug.

                  jwyoung5 this should be fixed in the latest OrionRC. Are you still experienced it with this version?
