  • Outlook.live.com, WhatsApp (and some other sites) sometimes don't load

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. visit outlook.live.com
  2. Log in
  3. revisit the page after some undefined amount of time then decide to visit outlook.live.com

note: I am able to make the page load in incognito mode. Tho this problem has happened repeatedly and at this point I think it's a problem with Orion and not outlook.

Expected behavior:
page should load

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.116.0.1-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)

TheUser1 No, waiting for someone else to confirm this as Idon't have Outlook account.

Can confirm outlook.live.com doesn't load. Same happens to web.whatsapp.com, even on compat mode.
Clearing all browser data and retrying will make outlook work, but if one closes the tab and opens it again, then the issue comes up again.

I can confirm that outlook.live.com either does not load or only does so very slowly.

This occurs only in Orion. It loads normally in Safari, Vivaldi, Chrome and Edge.

It occurs whether or not I use compatibility mode.

The problem seems sporadic. The website occasionally will load normally.

Interestingly, I have just updated MacOS to the Ventura Preview. This necessitated updating Orion to the version required for Ventura and the problem seems to have vanished.

Outlook.live is reliably loading quickly now.

Can confirm, this occurs even on Ventura (latest version). Wiping all cached data related outlook.live.com temporarily resolves the issue, but only for the first page load. Closing the browser/tab and visiting outlook.ive.com again immediately results in the same issue (i.e. very long loading times), I'm curious as to whether this is caused by some specific API used by the website. If there's something I can do to aid in debugging, please let me know!

Note: The issue occurs only when logged in. I've had my session expire before, after which I went through the login flow without any issues, thinking that perhaps the loading issues would be solved as well, only to encounter the issue again when actually loading outlook.live.com while authenticated.

          Steps to reproduce:

          1. Go to https://slash-create.js.org
          2. Close out of the website
          3. Attempt to go back using any means (direct URL, search engine, etc) - loading will get stuck and website will not load
          4. Clear cache (Develop -> Empty Cache or OPT + CMD + E)
          5. Attempt to go back using any means - website will load

Compatilbility Mode does not solve the issue. Safari will always load the website.
Disabling uBlock Origin did not solve the issue.

          Expected behavior:
          Website should load every time.

          Orion, OS version; hardware type:
          Orion Version 0.99.120-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)
          macOS Monterey 12.6 build 21G115
          Intel MacBook Pro 2020 (16,2), Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Extensions: Dark Reader, uBlock Origin, Bitwarden

Should have also mentioned that going to https://slash-create.js.org/# (notice the "/#" at the end) did not work either. Only tried this since that will get appended to the URL when you go to the website regularly.

Merged 4 posts from Website will not load until cache is cleared.

Some webpages I normaly use are very slow to open (seems to take a while to access it), for example when I go on https://outlook.live.com or https://video.telequebec.tv/En+direct

I expected them to open quickly, just how it does on Firefox and Safari. Even with compatibility mode active it doesn't help.

IIt happens on my Macbook Air M1 running under MacOS 12.5.1 and my iMac intel i7 runnin under MacOS 10.14.6, both using Orion browser Version 0.99.119-beta (WebKit 615.1.1)

You can see in this video it takes more than one minute to access it...
