  • Drag Threshold too low - deleting bookmarks while moving them

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:
Click and drag a bookmark or a folder with bookmarks on the bookmarks bar to sort/organize them.

Expected behavior:
The selected item is moved to a new location/order or - if not a suitable place where it is dropped - stays at it's old location.

What happens:
The selected item gets deleted instantly.

I further analyzed the problem. So my graphic tablet (Wacom One) has a pretty low drag threshold which leads to accidental misinterpretation of a click as a drag. In combination with the small height of the bookmark bar it happens pretty fast that you drag a bookmark or folder outside the safe zone and delete it. Here is a video:

My suggestion: Make the threshold for the vertical movement outside the bookmarks bar to delete something bigger so the user has to commit more.

QuickCatch Still not quite sure what the ask is.

Delete happens only on release? So you can control if something would be deleted?

This has happened to me a couple of times. I go to click on a Bookmark folder and accidentally drag it and release. If there was an "undo delete" option, that would be cool. Or a confirmation (e.g., do you want to delete?). Or I could just be more careful lol

Vlad The deletion happens on release, yes. But I don't want to delete. I just want to move the bookmarks. But this operation can only happen in this limited space or I accidentally delete a bookmark.

          Steps to reproduce:
it seems to be too easy to accidentally drag off a folder from the bookmarks bar. I can't reproduce it when I'm trying but far too often when I open a dropdown for a folder on the bookmarks bar and select one of first couple of bookmarks, I hear the "whoosh" sound and the folder is gone. Related to this, it would be great if I could undo deleting a folder form the bookmarks bar.

          Expected behavior:
I expect to go the bookmarked page, which I do but the folder that contained the bookmark also acts as if it was dragged off the bar and is deleted.

I think this may be a dupe, not sure tho.

Btw, one non-solution is to set up a cron job that backs up ur bookmarks every hour or smth, so you won't lose them.
