  • Higher RAM usage compared to Firefox, Safari w/ steps to reproduce

I have opened the same tabs and here is the total RAM consumption:

Orion 2GB
Firefox 2.68GB
Safari 2.84GB

Which is what we would expect (Orion using least RAM of all browsers).

Here is a video to confirm:

riziger Please include steps to reproduce and concrete description of the problem.

Vlad that's fair, but that doesn't really explain the difference we both are seeing.

I just shot this video, again no plugins.

      Safari: 3.2G
      Orion: 4.3G

Dont pay attention to firefox, i had like 30 tabs open from work.

sbarrios93 I suspect it has something to do with software you use for measuring RAM usage. What app is that?

It seems like you are using iStat and I verified that it has the same memory use as the app I used.

          So why on your system

          a) browsers take almost 2x as much RAM for same open tabs than on mine
          b) orion is worse than safari

I am not able to tell. But something is off. For these open tabs Orion should take 2G.

Can you try on another Mac?

Vlad Hmmm... I restarted my laptop and the problem seems to have gone away. Back to expected usage now.
