Safari has a feature whereas, you can "undo" after closing a tab to reopen that tab.
Furthermore, If you close the currently opened tab and do an "undo", it will not only reopen that closed tab but also make it active again.

Quite annoying that this was added, quite confusing for me. Perhaps add an option to turn this off. I don't think that Safari has ever had this option at least in the latest releases of Safari 14-15.
+1 for ⌘Z to reopen closed tab like in Safari. I thought of mapping ⌘Z to ⌘⇧T but it obviously won’t work. Happy to know this is coming soon.
