Proxy SwitchyOmega installs on Orion, and it can be configured, but the extension icon (which lets one switch) does not do the right things in at least three ways: it doesn't offer the full list of configured proxies, it goes blank when attempting to switch proxies, and it doesn't allow [Direct] when there is a system http proxy configured.
Yeah other extensions doesn't work either.
Safari's lack of SOCKS5 proxy support has been what's kept me on Firefox. I need this to support private browsing on my employer-owned computer. Orion will be my primary browser if it's possible to support this!
If this could be built in to the upcoming "Sessions" feature so that a session could route through a proxy, like in Firefox's Containers implementation, that would be my ideal.
Would I be correct in guessing that my inability to get the Surfshark, Hide.me, and Windscribe browser extensions to work in Orion is connected to this issue?

I'm loving this browser more and more each day, but I have to add to this discussion and ask if Orion even accesses or "respects" the global proxy settings e.g., those found in the network connection details in Mac OS.
Orion doesn't pull up any web pages when I'm at the office. All other browsers I use do not have this problem. And I mean all (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Edge, Arc, Brave, and Safari). When I'm using regular internet Orion works great.
I believe that before a browser-based feature to set proxy settings is implemented, Orion should be able to work through global proxy settings out of the box. Or have I missed something configuring Orion?

Another vote for me, I use SwitchyOmega in Firefox and Chromium browsers and would like to use Orion full time - but this is holding me back.

I have purchased Onion Plus Lifetime, but there is one feature that I'm currently missing: proxy support with extensions like FoxyProxy or SwitchyOmega. Please consider adding proxy support so that we can all fully transition to our beloved Orion. Thank you.

I think Orion still doesn't respect the system-wide proxy settings, meaning its traffic doesn't go through whatever proxies are configured on MacOS internet settings. I know this because on my work-issued Mac, my employer uses a cloud proxy (Forcepoint Neo) to restrict allowed domains, which ironically I can completely bypass if I use Orion

This is important because there are many situations where we might need to route a specific web browsing session through a specific proxy, which is not possible with Orion right now. In my case I do need to use specific proxies for specific websites at work, which means I cannot use Orion for work.
This is a bit tricky as this is a company-managed system, so I don't have total freedom to tinker with settings (e.g.: I cannot disable said Forcepoint Neo proxy). But let me play around and see if I can find a way.
What I can tell you is these settings are in MacOS network settings -> VPN and filters, then in the lower part of the window there's an area called "Filters and proxies". In that space, we have an item of type "Transparent proxy" that simply checks every website requested by a web browser and allows/blocks the request based on a blacklist.
Other web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) correctly respect this transparent proxy unless you configure a different one in the browser settings (Firefox) or through an extension. But Orion doesn't seem to go through this proxy at all, as I can freely browse any of the websites in their blacklist.
As said, I'll try to tinker a bit and see if I can somehow create a test scenario, but I'm afraid I probably won't have permissions to change any settings in that pane.

I work with a number of company resources can only be accessed via a proxy, while not needing a proxy for the vast majority of other browsing. I have FoxyProxy configured to automatically use a SOCKS proxy, only for those resources. It doesn't work with Orion, which prevents me from completely switching over and having to run another browser for official work.
System wide proxy settings are not good enough. They need to be configurable per profile with advanced rules, perhaps per site, like the fancier proxy extensions do.
Ugh this one feature is crucial for many people. I hoped that orion could levarage FoxyProxy extension but it doesn't work sadly enough. This and folders are much needed. Thanks in advance.
+1 for the support of HTTP/HTTPS Proxies within the Browser. I also need different Proxies to access company resources and use SwitchyOmega or ProxyVerse as of now within Chrome. If Orion had the possibility to manually set a Proxy it will also be possible to develop extensions such as these to be able to switch them based on domain or manually, which is a crucial part in a webbrowser for me and I suppose also for many others.
I actually tried using Proxifier to attempt to make this functionality work, both by adding an Orion web app (i.e., an SSB) into Proxifier, as well as an Orion profile app, and even the main Orion app itself—yet sadly, none of my efforts panned out.
It seems that Orion utterly refuses to proxy the actual, rendered browser content through any kind of proxying mechanism, whether via a Chrome / Firefox extension (like the ones that have already been mentioned previously on this thread), or even something that operates at a lower system level, as Proxifier does.
For reference, Proxifier normally works with any native app, e.g., Mail, Messenger, etc. Although I have noticed that Proxifier has some odd behavior with Safari, in that some websites appear to funnel through the proxy, while others do not.
Still, the fact that Proxifier doesn't work at all with Orion is very peculiar and unexpected. I'm guessing Orion must be doing some rather fancy WebKit-based tricks which prevent traffic from actually going through a singular binary file, as opposed to a normal macOS app.
As with everyone else on this thread, I would like to echo that this functionality should either become a part of the browser itself as soon as possible, or efforts should be made to accommodate the usage of browser extensions like Proxy SwitchyOmega, Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega), FoxyProxy, etc. (I tried all of these, and none work in Orion).
Attempting to force a proxy via system-level tools like Proxifier shouldn't be necessary to enable this crucial functionality in Orion, although the fact that even Proxifier doesn't help to alleviate this issue underscores the need for developer attention on this.
As with others above, I rely on SOCKS proxies for work and cannot use Orion as my daily driver unless support for this feature is added. This is a real shame, as I was intending to try migrating to it as my main browser, until I found out about this very frustrating problem.
