"Label" sidebar appears upon every startup or new window creation

Upon every startup of Orion, or when you create a new window, a "Label" sidebar that takes up about a third of the screen appears that pretty much never fails to appear.
You are able to click on the x to remove it, but becomes an annoyance every time you open Orion.

I'm having the same issue, really frustrating! I use Orion for an automated task and this has broken it. I even turned off auto updates, I'm on the July 30 2025 build and it's only broken in the past week.

When I grab a corner of the browser window to resize by dragging, the sidebar pops up on the right-hand side and shows "Label" at the top of the sidebar. I can close it, but this happens the first time I resize the window manually each time I start Orion.

I expect to drag the window and have it resize without having the sidebar pop up and get in the way.

When resizing the window, the label pane appears and must be manually closed by clicking on the x. Testing was done on a clean profile with no extensions and does not occur in Safari.

Expected function is the window resizing to not open other panes in the browser.

Thanks have confirmed this with draging from the side and bottom of the window.

Hey all,
I merged similar reports into one so this can be properly tracked. Feel free to tag me if there are other dupes out there.

The curious part is that this seems to affect only some users. Are you able to also reproduce this on a fresh Orion profile (File → Profiles → New Profile…)?

laiz Yep. Just tried it on a new profile, and it happened instantly upon manual resizing.

When opening a new window or private window the label tab automatically opens on Tahoe 26.1

I expect the new window to open normally as shown below.

Since that post I have also encountered the bug across my profiles. Hopefully the team is able to find the culprit soon.

This side panel looking thing shows up everytime i go into fullscreen. idk when or what setting i changed to cause it and now i dont know how to stop it. i can close it manually but its a chore to do it everytime. left and right click within this panel doesnt reveal anything.

this not showing up? and also some clues as to what this is

Hey @itsN1che thanks for reporting this issue. We are already aware of this and already have a fix internally that will be out soon (next monday for RC - and sometime after that for the next beta, most likely next week).

There's no setting that caused it to show every time - it's a bug. It started happening after macOS 26.1 update (as far as I'm aware this does not happen in macOS 26.0.1). macOS 26.1 changed some inbuilt behaviors of the sidebar panels and our code didn't handle this change - thus causing this bug.

I'll merge this issue with the one that's already there.
