More wake after sleep issues

I do not know what you mean by the swap is full.

But yes memory pressure is often over 60%
and I have a swap of 10G.

iSTat Menus often report 10G+ for one profile but the overall swap space is less. So if you want to know swap deails tell be exaclty what to provide.

In general fill a profile or two with old media like papers and tv news web pages.

i often get crashes when waking the macbook pro from sleep with the latest version of Orion RC.
MacOS 26.1 on Macbook Pro M3pro
Version 0.99.136.1-rc (WebKit 623.1.8.0.0)

Am reporting via the Apple pop-up with the error details that comes up now every day and then I tap "reopen" to reopen Orion and start my working day :-/

When I have a profile with 30 tabs open and the mac sleeps overnight.

When I search via Kagi the page load hangs for a long time, the progress bar stops at about 10%.

This is just another of the highly repeatable issues with Orion when you have a lot of tabs and the mac sleeps overnight.

This has happened for most of the last year like all my sleep issues. If anything it feels to be getting worse.

Well just got this on a new profile
And a newish booted Mac so it has no swap
I think Orion was opened after sleep but the Mac had slept after the reboot.

Is it just Kagi search that hangs, or other websites as well?

I have just got Orion into a state where you can't switch tabs,

(As usual this is after the Mac slept)

I closed a few (30?) tabs by use of close tree and close tab.
Then left with two tabs.
But I can't switch between them - see video

This is the first time I have seen this failure.

When I closed and reopened the Orion profile - it only showed the one tab, the one that is displayed in the video.

I would note that Orion seems to be getting worse over time and not improving, especially with tab management.

I can choose either tab.

Hey @bestlem apologies for the trouble you are facing. Is this something that you can reliably reproduce?

I tried following some rough steps like you mentioned, i.e. First opened 30-40 tabs in vertical tabs mode (some nested, some not nested). Then I closed tab trees and single tabs using close tree, close tab, close tabs below, etc. and only kept 2 tabs open. I was able to successfully switch between those tabs.

To get to the bottom of this bug, if possible can you please share some series of steps which cause this issue? Also, you mentioned that this happened after the mac slept - can you elaborate more on that? Did the issue start happening after you woke up your mac from sleep while Orion was open?

You are missing probably the most important step.

After opening all those tabs. And you should be getting up to 10G swap space

Let the mac sleep

Then try to use the tabs.

This is not something that you can reproduce in a test but happens most days.

WHen my mac wakes from sleep Orion behaves oddly

Sometimes Orion crashes - I have sent the crash reports

Other times if the Profile has more than a page of tabs they show up as
The process for this web page has crashed.

I also have seen pages where the CSS is not fully applied.

To fix I have to close and reopen the profile.

The app carries on as before with all web pages showing as before sleep.

Hey! If you are willing to test, could you see if a fresh Orion profile without any extension also begins misbehaving following waking from sleep? For what it's worth, I regularly put my mac to sleep with Orion open and I haven't encountered instabilities or CSS oddities, but I'll keep a closer eye on it now.

Not really.
The issue is thatfor all profiles I need some extensions e.g. 1password and Dark Reader (the latter as it uses dark for all pages so I don't need to individually tweak things for every site as Orions dark tweak does - plus it works significantly better) - I need that for medical reasons.

I"ll see if I can remove some others.

I've merged multiple wake after sleep related issues in this one. I'm still looking / trying to reproduce this, will get back and post here in case I have more questions. I haven't really seen this before as well, same as @laiz , but will keep looking out for this.

Note that the Kagi search one did also happen on a new profile with few tabs and only a short sleep.

I use Dark Rwader and 1Password addins on the profiles that show this issue other extensions on that are diabled but they shouldn'y matter.
