Can reproduce this as described. Interestingly, the "site preferences" page zoom level stays at 100%, when I'd have thought it would have increased...

On latest beta, for good measure. On the first attempt, it works correctly, as I zoom using "vertical up/down two finger scrolling". On the second attempt, I zoom using pinch in/out diagonally, which exhibits the wrong behaviour.

Also, the zooming performance in the former scenario looks a little bit stuttery compared with the smoothness I'd have expected (the video is an accurate representation of the experience, and I was zooming nice and smoothly).

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Go to figma https://www.figma.com
    2. Sign in
    3. Create new project
    4. Attempt to zoom using pinch

    Expected behavior:
For the canvas to zoom instead of the entire page
(this behaviour is not present on safari)

    Orion, OS version; hardware type:
    16 inch M1 MacBook Pro
    Mac OS 12.4
    Orion Version 0.99.119-beta
    Using trackpad

    Image/Video:

As you can see the entire page is zoomed instead of the canvas

      Same here,
I decided to test Orion one more time, but unfortunately, it is still not good enough for a day to day use
Figma, as my primary tool, doesn't work here 🙁((((

        Steps:

        1. Go to Miro (Maybe other sites with interactive boards do the same)
        2. Try to zoom in or out on the board

Expected result: I will zoom on board not as usual page

Real result: You zoom Miro board as regular page

Additional info - Tested on Figma, same problem
        And in Safari everything okey

        Orion Version 0.99.121.1-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)
        Hardware - MacBook Air M1 2020

P.S. - re create because of not correct category

halp3ars changed the title to Bug on board type sites .

A number of websites now use pinch gestures to zoom in on their canvas, e.g. Lucid, Miro. Those pinch gestures are interpreted by Orion as being page zoom in/out (or to show tab view), which makes using those websites much more difficult and can cause rendering problems (page partially zoomed in when it shouldn't).

If there was the ability to either:

                a) turn pinch to zoom on/off as a global setting, or
                b) turn pinch to zoom on/off on a domain level

this would completely negate those negatives. This is for Desktop, as I believe Mobile now has a feature that achieves the same outcome.

Merged 1 post from Disable Pinch Gesture on Desktop.

Are there any updates on this?

This issue has a significant impact on many websites that are widely used in various workplaces, such as Figma, Miro, Mural and others. Could you please provide an update on this? What is the expected timeframe for a resolution?

It's been over a year since the initial ticket was raised.

Panda The problem is not easy to solve, Apple is using a private feature in Safari for this that we do not have access to.

                        Hi,

I experience this issue, in figma and google maps too.

                        Regards

What I need is just the ability to disable the pinch to zoom default behaviour, which is to launch the tab switching UI. Once that's disabled, I can then use those tools as usual I believe. Vlad, could you consider a single check box to disable default tab switching gesture control?

Would disabling pinch out to tab overview be acceptable for everyone here?

I would be fine losing that behavior. I honestly only ever triggered it accidentally and never found it useful.

                            Thanks,
                            Wes

If that will solve the issue then I'm fine with that. But, it doesn't sound like it'll actually solve the underlying zooming issue on websites. It sounds like a separate issue/feature/tweak.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

@Vlad You are correct, I don't believe it will fix the underlying issue. I filed this bug well before pinching out to tabs overview was implemented.
