Activating Extension on tab in compatibility mode doesn't work.

Try to click on the extension that should be available
Visual issue, extension marked with X
Popup is displaying asking for permission every time you click the extension
Pressing button causes a page refresh, extension still not available

The extension should work when added as an exception to run in compatibility mode.

The compatibility mode is intended for fixing website issues. You shouldn't be able to any exceptions to how it disables all Web Extensions. This means step 4 is working as intended. The permission popup spawning is indeed a bug.

Could you share more information about how you attempted to add an exception to compatibility mode? A video of you repeating the steps 1–6 would be great.
