Total full screen mode on iPhone

On iOS we already have full screen mode when reading a page normally from top scrolling to bottom. Everything is OK until you need to scroll back: scrolling a bit back causes the top and bottom panels to re-appear. This become really annoying if you need to scroll back and forth (real world example: reading wikipedia on iOS).

So, a feature request: an option to activate total full screen mode.
Like in book reader apps (e.g. KyBook 3).

How does it work?

Both the top and the bottom panels hide on scroll in any of both directions: top-down, down-top. (Code to hide them is already there, need to add the second direction)
Both panels re-appear on tap in center

This feature will be activated by me immediatelly since I read and interract with the page order of magnitude often then deal with the address bar.
This feature will be really useful removing a constant pain of flickering UI

Would this be solved by using the "HIde toolbar" option in the website settings menu (accessed by tapping on the favicon)?

When in "Hide tollbar" mode, the toolbar remain collapsed regardless of scroll direction. Tap on the toolbar (the minimised website address) to exit the mode and expand the toolbar.

With 'Hide Toolbar on Scroll' option ON we have:

No toolbar visible until you scroll up.

With 'Hide toolbar' tap from menu we have:

Both toolbars visible (bad) but both are sitting still, no flickering (good). The problem: manual several taps on every page. Another problem: toolbar are eating valuable screen space for no good.

I’m proposing to make another option: Something like 'Total fullscreen mode' And hide both toolbars until tap in the center, like book reader apps are doing.

Ideally for me: is modification of the 'Hide Toolbar on Scroll' option so it really does hide until tap in the center.

Ok, I think I misunderstood your first message. You're not so much interested in the standard "hide on scroll", but you also have "Focus Mode" enabled I assume, right?

So your feature request is to have a way to get "Focus mode" to stay on even when scrolling up, like for instance if you have focus mode enabled, when you select "Hide toolbar" from the website settings menu, it wouldn't collpase the toolbar in its standard collpased mode, but rather all the way to the "focus mode".

Did I understand it right?

Effect: Yes, I am proposing a feature: full screen for page content, no toolbar visible, no toolbar jumping in on any scroll until explicit tap in the center. Like "Books" by Apple or "KyBook 3" are doing. Call it Focus Mode.

Activator: it will be too annoying to have this mode activated via sequence of taps on every page. Better: to have it activated once for the whole browser in Settings.

Note: Safari by Apple in both iOS 18.6.2 and iOS 26 has flickering toolbars on scroll (very annoying). Orion can do better. This is the purpose.
