Opening a new tab doesn't change the cursor to the search bar

When opening a new tab (Command + T), the cursor does not go to the correct place (the search bar).

When opening a second tab, the cursor does the correct behavior, enabling the user to type a site or search something.

So, I only got two options: open a new tab, use the mouse to click on the search bar and start typing OR opening two tabs.

When opening a new tab with Command + T, the user should type on the search bar.

Hey! Are you able to reproduce this on a fresh Orion profile as well? (File → Profiles → New Profile…)

Interesting! In that case we're in for a potentially tedious process. Let's start with the usual suspects: do you have any extensions installed on your primary profile? If the answer is no, there's the long process of making the fresh profile more like the misbehaving one, one change at a time.

laiz luckily enough I think I found it on the second change....

The 'culprit' is customizing the tool bar with any icons. When added, the problem occurs. When removing all the buttons (letting the bar 'barebone') and reopening, the function of opening a new tab with the cursor on it, it works.

KI0T0 To clarify, customising the toolbar on the new profile causes the problem to now show up on the new profile as well?

I know it may sound pointless since your description is quite clear on its own, but could you share a recording of you getting a fresh profile into a state where the URL bar isn't focused following ⌘+T?
This could be a macOS26 exclusive bug but I'd still like to make sure.

Strange, I have a customised toolbar and don't have issues. I'll send this to the dev team and update you if there's any more info they need.

laiz sure. I also think it's something related to Tahoe, since there isn't a lot of issues about this (at least I didn't found any).

Another error: When you click the 'close' button on the Orion window, it doesn't work.

Sorry guys: I screen recorded the window instead of the entire screen both times.

BUT I found out that when you close the entire window, the function of opening a new tab with Command + T and the cursor going to the correct place works again!

So, the first error is: when you customize the toolbar, you need to close the entire window so the function works correctly.

I also showed on this video the second error: the close button doesn't work; you need to close the Orion browser on the docker instead.

I’m seeing the same behavior on macOS 26.0 with Orion 0.99.136-beta - first new tab doesn’t focus the search bar, but from the second tab onward it works fine. I also found that customizing the toolbar without restarting the browser causes the issue.
