Orion inconsistently freezes hard on web site load

I've mentioned this before in Discord. For the last month or so, Orion sometimes will load a website apparently correctly but not allow any interaction with it. Resizing does render correctly, but it cannot be scrolled. Reloading in-place does not restore this, but doing so in a new tab does resolve it.

Consequently it's not easy to reproduce. I'm happy to check logs or whatever next reproduction, but it just seems like Orion sometimes doesn't hook up interaction-events.

The website should accept inputs.

TCat Do you have any extensions that deal with cookie consent? It is very common that such extensions remove the consent popup without answering it - which, in sites that implement it correctly, won’t enable interactivity.

Run the website in compatibility mode and see what happens

mrmanafon I seriously doubt it's extension related, as reloading the tab doesn't change it but starting the same URI in a new tab does.
And no, I have no extensions touching cookie consent, although those annoy me immensely.

@mrmanafon I get this sometimes. I doubt it is cookie related as the copy and paste of the URL would give the same result.

This happens to me on articles with a large amount of embedded media e.g. newspaper sites.

bestlem I've visited https://www.foreignaffairs.com/middle-east/how-iran-lost which is the link from the video, and it works just fine for me, as I have no extensions. So extensions are still the most likely candidate for why its buggy.

It would be wise for @TCat to disable them one by one until they find out which one is causing the issue

Yeah, no. It worked for me in a new tab in the video too. And it doesn't fail often, just enough to be annoying.
So no, that's pretty much precisely not extension related. Far more likely to be timing on first load related, with something then being horked in the tab that a new tab lacks, such as states or perhaps a javascript loop.
Also, because it's not easily reproduced, disabling extensions won't prove anything because sometimes it will happen a few times in a day, sometimes not at all. And furthermore, this didn't ever happen a month ago, and my extensions haven't changed this year.
This is why I took a video. If you look at my history, I'm no novice here. There's a new bug in Orion somewhere, probably a race condition.

Would you mind trying this out in a clean profile, just to fully 100% rule out extensions as a possible cause?

RoxyRoxyRoxy I'm afraid that won't prove anything, as it's hard to reproduce anyhow. It hasn't happened in the last two days of pretty constant use. Which is why I took the video when it did happen.

Hey @TCat, would you mind enabling Use UI-Side Composing in experimental settings? We believe this should be an effective workaround for this issue.
