DBLClick Very strange, I'm using Orion RC 134 Beta. I'm able to get higher resolutions. Initially, when it was set to Automatic, nothing was greater than 1080p. Now I get 4k.
Nexis DBLClick How can I install one? I have Version 0.99.134-beta (WebKit 622.1.9.19.2) Maybe with your version I'll make it work?
DBLClick You need to be an Orion Plus member. Current version: Version 0.99.134-rc (WebKit 622.1.9.19.2) Build date June 10, 2025 Mac 15.5 (Build 24F74)
Dustin Nexis to clarify, I was streaming 4K on Orion 134 beta, the regular release that everyone can access. What version are you on?
Nexis Dustin How can I check that? the only version i could find is the one i've posted above: Version 0.99.134-beta (WebKit 622.1.9.19.2) Kompilacja z dnia Jun 10 2025 MacBook Air Wersja 15.5 (kompilacja 24F74)
Dustin @Nexis yep, you're on the latest. I can confirm that I can recreate this issue on Orion 134 on my M1 MacBook Air running macOS 26 beta. On my M4 iMac, Orion plays 4K just fine via VP9.
mperf I wanted to add some more insights: I have tried on an intel mac, an M1 and an M2. Both intel and M2 works fine, the problem persists only on M1.
DBLClick Iām beginning to think that we are on to something. With the hardware support. Iām on a M4 MacBook Air experiencing no issues with the VP 9 codec.
mperf YouTube videos only load h264 codec now. I want to watch vp9 versions too, like on safari and other browsers. Users will be able to watch 4k60 videos.
laiz Hey! This sounds like a dupe of #11298 For those who are unaffected by that bug, the vp9 codec is available:
mperf laiz thank you for the fast response, but from what I have seen there isn't a solution. I wanted to add some more insights: I have tried on an intel mac, an M1 and an M2. Both intel and M2 works fine, the problem persists only on M1.
laiz mperf Unfortunately I don't have a solution to offer as the team is still looking into the issue. For what it's worth, the picture I posted earlier was taken on my M1 MacBook Air so the issue isn't exclusive to any specific Apple Silicon generation.
