Video resolutions above 1080p are not available on YouTube on Orion

Nexis to clarify, I was streaming 4K on Orion 134 beta, the regular release that everyone can access. What version are you on?

I can confirm that I can recreate this issue on Orion 134 on my M1 MacBook Air running macOS 26 beta. On my M4 iMac, Orion plays 4K just fine via VP9.

I wanted to add some more insights: I have tried on an intel mac, an M1 and an M2. Both intel and M2 works fine, the problem persists only on M1.

I’m beginning to think that we are on to something. With the hardware support. I’m on a M4 MacBook Air experiencing no issues with the VP 9 codec.

YouTube videos only load h264 codec now. I want to watch vp9 versions too, like on safari and other browsers.

Users will be able to watch 4k60 videos.

For those who are unaffected by that bug, the vp9 codec is available:

Unfortunately I don't have a solution to offer as the team is still looking into the issue.
For what it's worth, the picture I posted earlier was taken on my M1 MacBook Air so the issue isn't exclusive to any specific Apple Silicon generation.

Adding another voice to the choir here, I’m also being hit by the same bug. No vp9 available in Orion, but HDR/high res available in Safari and SigmaOS (both Webkit based).

I'm experiencing the same thing on my M4 MacBook Pro. Nothing above 1080p, no HDR as well.
