Allow customizing the toolbar on mobile

I know this is a request for iOS, but I don’t know where else to put it. iPadOS supports customize toolbars natively. However, I don’t know why they don’t do it with Safari, so here’s an example from Numbers.

That customization ability looks pretty similar to how a lot of macos apps have a customize toolbar ability (i do realize this post is for ios)

Just like how the desktop version of Orion supports moving around the buttons at the top on the toolbar it would be awesome if we could change the positon of the various buttons at the bottom on the toolbar on the iOS version of Orion. Specifically the new tab button I would rather have in the centre with the share button instead on the left. If this is actually possible already feel free to let me know.

AshwinPaudel I'm actually not a fan of the idea. I think it belongs on the toolbar on the bottom. Hiding it away in the tab overview wouldn't work, because it introduces and extra step to bring up that menu (which holds more than just settings, by the way). I personally would not want to open the tab overview each time I need to access that menu.

ajgraves personally it’s very annoying coming from safari and accidentally clicking the settings button thing instead of the group thing

Just be able to hide the settings button or move it as personally I find it in a annoying position

AshwinPaudel I dislike the idea, we should be able to rearrange the toolbar by dragging the icons around instead. I use the settings menu all the time and moving it would not be good.

Blundelll I use list view for tabs and there isn’t much room for a settings menu in that UI

ForumNinja404 the settings button could be moved to the view tab instead of sitting there and being annoying and it would make it look and feel little more like safari

I too would really like to have the tab switcher at the rightmost position. I don’t use settings enough, and hiding bookmarks/history/etc. under an extra click is a little annoying coming from safari. Plus, the right (or left) are easiest to hit because you don’t have to aim as much. I think settings could go under the Orion button in the url bar, or even the tab switcher. I think having the option to change the toolbar layout would be ideal because then people can have a settings button if they want, or we could remove it/move the toolbar around. Definitely would like a bookmarks button instead of having to go through the settings menu

Allow adding “Find on page” action button to the toolbar for easier access

There are broader feature suggestions about full toolbar customization, that would work as well, but in the meantime this could also be added since it’s easier to add

This will allow users to have only those buttons they need in the order that suits them best

Allow editing the toolbar, reordering and removing default buttons

For example, I don’t need the tabs button since I only use the swipe up gesture to invoke the tab list
Or I would like to have arrow right (history next) to always be on the right-most side so I never accidentally get on the wrong side of history

There is an issue about user buttons (which is also great), but this one is about editing default ones
