jrose Format-string-based searches are very powerful and not at all uncommon…but they're not the most accessible thing for an everyday user. Orion could support auto-discovering the search field to make a keyword search bookmark, which I know is possible because I had a SIMBL plug-in for older versions of Safari that did this. Here's the code (MIT-licensed).
jrose Here’s the readme for Keystone, including screenshots: https://belkadan.com/keystone/readme. In practice, all it did was put a unique string in the focused search field and submit the form, then substitute that string out of the URL you’re sent to, but it worked surprisingly well.
Vlad jrose This looks like bookmark invocation keyword feature from Orion? https://browser.kagi.com/faq.html#quicksearch
jrose Yep, this report is about adding autodiscovery, so people don’t have to edit the URLs manually to get the %s in there.
Vlad jrose I guess I am confused what does the UI/UX for this suggestion's implementation looks like.
jrose It’s the same as “Add Bookmark”, except you have to be focused on a search field, and the URL that’s populated for the new bookmark is the search URL (with %s already substituted).
