Programmable button for Kagi Assistant 'forgets' me

Maybe this is by design but in Orion I have set to remember cookies by kagi.com and my search is set to Kagi with session URL pasted.

On fresh start, Kagi search works fine i.e. I search for something and its looked up on Kagi search using my account. I don't need to login etc.

However, I have programmed a button on toolbar to go to kagi.com/assistant. Normally you'd expect cookies to make sure when I click the button, Kagi assistant is opened. However, it lands on help page (https://help.kagi.com/kagi/ai/assistant.html) instead of kagi.com/assistant. This normally happens when someone without a Kagi Ultimate plan tries to visit assistant. I have ultimate plan.

This same button works, right after I make my first search in Orion session. What am I doing wrong?

I expected cookies to be remembered and used by the whole browser. If I am logged in on Kagi, cookies are saved. I close browser and come back to search, these cookies work. But if I use programmable button to access the assistant, it doesn't recognise that I am already logged in so show me assistant straight away. Somehow only after I search something, everything works.

Yannick Ok so steps to reproduce:

Create a programmable button.
Have it open url : www.kagi.com/assistant
Pin it to toolbar.
In Orion settings, setup Kagi as a search engine.
Using the link icon, paste your session link. [must be ultimate subscriber or on a plan eligible for Kagi Assistant]
Close Orion.
Open Orion.
Search for something in address bar - you will see search results.
Click your programmed button - you will land on Kagi Assistant prompt.
This is expected behaviour. Now close Orion.
Open Orion.
DO NOT search. First thing you do is hit Kagi Assistant programmed button.
You will land on https://help.kagi.com/kagi/ai/assistant.html and NOT on kagi.com/assistant.
Repeat steps 6-9 and you will see that the same button is working fine.

Step 13 behavior will keep happening if you remove your session link from Orion search settings or add session link for an account that has no access to Kagi assistant. That will be normal behavior. But not for ultimate subscriber.

I think I did it right, and everything was fine 😅 (on the last RC)

Just tried to reproduce on Version 0.99.131.3-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4); macOS Sequoia 15.2 build 24C101.

Not able to. Each time I closed the browser, I made sure the currently selected tab was a fairly arbitrary GitHub page. I set the programmable button to https://kagi.com/assistant. Just in the spirit of testing, I tried setting the button to https://kagi.com/assistant/174feb80-25dd-4a18-9f2e-2ea6417b3cd4.

I'm quite sleep-deprived so it's possible I'm doing something wrong - but each time, Orion opens an Assistant page with me logged in and the Assistant ready to accept input from me.
