Almost every webpage now has a high quality favicon (svg) and a lower quality one (ico). Most modern browsers (save for Safari) all support svg: https://caniuse.com/link-icon-svg
I don't think it will change any users' workflows in any way 
. Perhaps it will solve some of the dynamic favicon bugs already logged. But to be honest, this is such a nit
