From info from #10797, it seems it is caused by uBO.

uBO disabled the following YT redirect warning:

When issue happen on the link in top post, there are 2 symptoms:

  • Github is not signin. This may not happen, check next symptom.
  • "Cannot retrieve latest commit at this time"

When issue happen, reloading(cmd+r) the Github page will not fix it. However, disabling uBO, reload page, the YT redirect confirmation page will show up, click "GO TO SITE", the Github page will load normally.

PS: Build-in content blocker is disabled.

    1. go to https://www.youtube.com/@projectsinflight/videos
    2. shift+click the patreon link to open in a new tab
    3. go to the patreon tab and try to use the site normally
    4. orion somehow thinks patreon is still youtube somehow and will interpret links as relative to youtube.com??

this on top of all the other issues I've lately been facing with Orion makes it a really tough sell. I just keep finding more and more bugs like this :/

    Orion
    Version 0.99.132-beta (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)
    Build date Mar 17 2025
    Mac 15.4 (Build 24E248)

I am unable to reproduce this issue.

Also, I noticed that you are running an old version of Orion. The newest release is Version 0.99.132.0.3-beta (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4). Could you check if updating Orion solves this issue?

LoganDark if you go to pateron normally, are you suppose to be login already (in your video it is not login)? If yes, then it is almost they same as my #10227. The difference is I encountered on github link.

Merged 6 posts from Weird behavior with youtube redirects.

By the way, uBlock also seems to cause an issue where if I press Cmd+N or Cmd+Shift+N to open a new window, it breaks the tab that I was just on, and really likes to wipe anything that I was working on.

what version of uBlock Origin is this happening with? Is it consistently happening for you?

laiz uBlock Origin 1.62.0 and also 1.63.2 and very consistently. I used the latest official GitHub Release (you can just click to download the Firefox version and Orion will offer to install). Both Orion and Orion RC exhibit the issue. Disabling uBlock Origin fixes the issue, enabling it causes it again.

LoganDark actually ugh, uBlock is disabled and Cmd+Shift+N still causes the tab to crash for me. I hate this.

I also found out it doesn't happen on every single website, only on certain ones like YouTube or Hacker News. It doesn't happen on this website.
