I assume you are clearing history from the main menu item--History -> Clear History? If you hold option and select that menu item, you can clear your history without removing cookies and other website data, ensuring you don't get logged out.
Regarding the issue with Bitwarden, if the issue is still persisting, it is not connected to clearing your history is it? If it is an unrelated issue, might you be able to make a separate post reporting it?
