This would have to be one of the more obvious examples of low frame rate scrolling. It looks like <60 Hz in Orion, probably around 30 Hz. Runs perfectly buttery smooth in Safari. Tried a new profile with compatibility mode; same result.
I've started using Orion again after more than a year of abandoning it. Honestly the improvements are great. 😀 I do know that Orion relies upon β webkit, which of course may be buggy, because it's pre-release. Most things are working well, but this site really stood out. I have noticed that this β webkit scrolling, is a lot more Chromium like. The current Safari (18.3) is very smooth, accelerates quickly ,and continues rolling with momentum. Whereas the newer Orion scrolling; seems less reliable in regards to buttery smoothness, and has more friction with rolling to a stop (A bit like an EV with one pedal driving mode on). Personally speaking, the new scrolling physics isn't a deal breaker (users can adjust to new things), but the low frame rate scrolling is unattractive and gives the impression of bugginess.
Does Vlad and the Orion team have any control over this behaviour, or is it baked in to β webkit?
Buttery smooth 120 Hz scrolling.
