Description:

When clicking the iCloud Passwords icon in the Orion browser, I am prompted to enter a verification code. However, no code is generated by my Mac. This issue occurs in both the Chrome and Firefox versions of the iCloud Passwords extension when used in Orion.

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Click the iCloud Passwords icon in Orion.
  2. Observe that a prompt appears asking for a verification code.
  3. No verification code is generated on the Mac, preventing access to stored passwords.

Additional Testing:

  • The iCloud Passwords extension works as expected in other Chromium-based browsers and Firefox.
  • Tested on a fresh installation of macOS 15.4 beta using a UTM virtual machine with the latest Orion browser and iCloud Passwords extension—issue persists.

Conclusion:

Based on these tests, the issue appears to be specific to Orion rather than iCloud Passwords or the macOS environment.

The iCloud Passwords extension should function in Orion as it does in other supported browsers, generating a verification code when required.

Can confirm this on Version 0.99.131.0.2-beta. Uninstalled and reinstalled the iCloud Passwords extension to see if it fixed it. Also tried both Firefox and Chrome versions.

    macOS 15.4 Beta (24E5228e)

I'm experiencing this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's like this:

      MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1
      Orion 0.99.131.0.2-beta (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)

iCloud Passswords works for me on latest RC... but you can't unlock it by clicking the prompt. You have to click the toolbar icon to unlock it

On Firefox you can unlock it directly by clicking the prompt

        Orion 0.99.132-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)
        macOS Sequoia 15.3.2
        iCloud Passwords Version 3.0.10 (Firefox)

Just updated to Sequoia 15.4 and the issue is there - click on the menu bar icon and I get the dialog to enter the verification code but no code is displayed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the firefox version of the extension and it still doesn't work.

In Edge it works as expected.

I am using Orion RC Version 0.99.132.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)

I am also occasionally receiving a dialog that says the extension requires Sonoma or later (screen shot attached)

Confirming that iCloud Passwords no longer works at all after updating to macOS 15.4

Disabled the extension and using macOS Passwords for now

            Password settings in Orion:
            3rd part provider
            and
            [✓] Offer to AutoFill passwords

Still broken with Orion RC Version 0.99.132.1.2-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)

The extension isn't working on Dia, the new browser from the same company as Arc. However, it does work on Arc. Assuming the company hasn't made significant underlying changes, the issue likely stems from Apple's identification of the browser in macOS 15.4.

Apple really should put effort into improving the extension experience instead of locking it up. 1Password did a way better job on this. 😓

Megabits to be fair, it's an unsupported use of their extension, which is only supported on Chrome and Firefox. In a way, they are improving the experience by making it more secure. 😆

ModernTTY Most likely apple's effort to crackdown on indie software that doesn't go though App Store.

I'm starting to use 1Password instead. It's way better.
