When opening a link on iOS, the tab counter in the bottom bar doesn't update to correctly show how many open tabs there are until an interaction that creates a new tab is undertaken. This only occurs when the app is fully closed, and happens with a variety of links and app sources (in terms of where the link is clicked from). The below video just has a couple of examples.
